comfort of the seats

Hey guys,

i still havent purchased my TSX, but i am curious to know if anyone here is complaining about the comfort of the driver seat. A friend owns an Accord and he really doesnt like the driver seat and complains about his back when driving in long distance. i know it is normal that no matter what car you drive, when driving distances you should stop and stretch, but i am really curious to know what TSX owners think of their seats

I found that it took a couple of months to get the seat "broken in". There are lots of adjustments and it took me a while to get it just right. Now, I have no complaints.

I've done a 7 hour stint behind the wheel of my TSX without a break and I felt fresh as ever afterwards. Thoroughly comfortable car.

I wouldn't say that the seat is uncomfortable for most people, but it definitely doesn't fit me well.
It seems like a seat made for someone 6'0" unlike most japanese seats that fit me perfect.
When going around corners (not tight corners, and not fast, just normal driving) I slide all over the place,
and the surface material is not grippy at all, it is very slippery so I slide down it as well.

Im about 5'10" and weight about 200 lbs. and I find the seats just fine. I have not taken a long trip yet, but I do not anticipate any uncomfort. I also own a 2000 Maxima, and I had the car for some time before I learned that it had a lower back support lever. From the forums I am also finding out that alot of people do not realize this setting exists. The TSX also has an adjustable lower back support lever. This helps quite a bit during long trips. The lever is located on the right side of the seat, just over the armrest.

My wife just got an 06 Accord and we took it up to Monterey recently (about 450 miles one way). My back was killing me a few hours into it and I think the only reason was because there is no lumbar support, at least in the model she has.

The TSX however has lumbar support and after a few months of breaking in, they are very comfortable on long trips...

The TSX seats are the best of any car I've owned. No break-in here. Supportive and great for long drives and spirited driving.

I just got back from my vacation where I put 5000 km (3000 miles) on the car in just over a week.

I have no complaints about the seats after that trip. They were extremely comfortable, no fatigue at all.

Nikki - approx. size?

"I wouldn't say that the seat is uncomfortable for most people, but it definitely doesn't fit me well."

Nikki, without getting too personal, how big/small are you? Because I'm very petite and I'm hoping this won't be a problem as well when I buy my TSX....

Mine are comfortable, but I have heard that the 04's are less comfy than the 05 since the 05s have a better lumbar set up.

Nikki, it could also be the material of your clothing. I find I slide a little if wearing dress slacks but no problems in my denim........

I'm 5'6" and do find the seats uncomfortable. They are too "buckety" to coin a word. I have taken to using longer bolts and washers on the back of the seats were they bolt to the floor, and using a wedge under me. Perhaps I am making some progerss or I am getting used to them but they do seem better after some use, but still catch me under my legs a bit despite the wedge.

I've always loved Honda seats. Although I liked my CRX seats a lot better than my TSX's. but the stock OEM CRX seats were actually made by Recaro, so that explains it.

I've had this problem for a year now, and it is constant,
I almost always wear jeans anyway.

I found that the driver's seat took a couple months to break in and after that it's just as comfortable as can be. I have a stiff/sore back a lot of the time, especially in the morning, and after my commute (about 1/2 hour), my back feels much better. On long trips (I've driven to Mpls, about 300 miles) many times and it's plenty comfortable. I'd say better than averagefor a car designed around spirited performance.

I find the '04 that I have has GREAT lumbar support, and very nice side bolstering and shoulder support. I'm 6'2" and about 210, and these seats are more than comfortable.

If you have a sore back, whether its from the seats or not, try turning on the seat heaters (HI for about 5 minutes, then LOW for the remainder of the time). This really relaxes the muscles and when you get to work 30 minutes later, its like you just had a nice massage - feels so nice.

Then again, you don't have heated seats in the 2004's... just the 2005's. go !!

Actually us with 2004's DO have heated seats so go ya

But I do have to agree with you on the seat warmers, they rock. And I'm typing this from S.Cali so you know they pretty are used for lumbar mini- massage.

As with all the Honda/Acuras I've owned/driven over the years, the seats are great. Very comfortable and supportive in all the right places. My only complaint is that there isn't enough bolstering for my slender frame and spirited driving. I, too, tend to slide around the seat when I go around corners.

I think the best Honda seats I ever sat in were the Del Sol seats I had in my 93 Civic coupe. Those seats were just phenominal.

6'0" and 165lb, I've always gotten numb-butt no matter what car I have driven, although the TSX is certainly the best. I think it has more to do with the pading in my butt rather (or lack thereof) rather than the seat. It's pretty good on my back too, I look forward to sittin gin it on the drive home from work.

I am about 5'10, around 170ish lbs and I find the seats very comfy. At first my back would get sore on drives that were about an hour or more. I just adjusted the lumbar,.....and have not had a problem since. The seats fit me perfectly.

Thanks for your posts guys!

i am now confident that the TSX has some very comfortable seats, and glad to hear that they are better than the Honda Accord!

Now only if i can find a person in Toronto/Quebec with an 05 pearl white (or CG or black) TSX with navi to sell it to me (lol)

I'm a little worried now as I am 5'0 also (same as Nikki) and very small-framed. I usually only do long trips (8+ hours) about 3 - 4 times a year. Hopefully won't be a problem in my normal, day-to-day driving.

Do you drive with your wallet in your back pocket? This might be the leading contributor to your numb-butt.

I have once, but just for a short distance with no speed or quick turning... (damn ride-alongs!)...

I normally only do around 5-10 miles a day, so I don't think my daily commute will be an issue....

The Mrs. and I drove that road last fall. Too bad it was in a rental econobox.

those are the funnest roads to drive the TSX i would imagine!!

the day i purchase the car, (or the day i break in the car) i am going to take her up north and drive her in those fun clean roads!

t_in_maine: i suggest you go for another test drive, and REALLy drive the car!

salesmen these days are getting very 'sissy' when it comes to test drives i found here...no one is really letting me drive the car, and not one place offered me a manual trans test drive

No Kidding... I remember the day when you could keep a car overnight for a test drive... well, a pre-owned anyways. Not that I want to take the thing out and 'drive it like I stole it', but a nice run without some yakkety yakking from the passenger seat would be nice.
