any suggestions?

I just bought a new '05 6MT TSX and Im looking for suggestions on how to modify it with little cash to do so. Are there any cool exhaust mods that will boost hp? any other suggestions as to how i can improve hp without hurting gas mileage too much and without a whole lot of $$?

mesherm,
Why they heck are you posting this in this thread (since it has nothing to do with the topic)? I suggest you use the SEARCH function because I'm sure this has been talk about many, many times before.

An exhaust will run you at least $700, modding with little cash is usually not the easiest thing to accomplish, depending on what you mean by "little" and "cool"

Also, you will get better results making your own thread in the part and performance section.

But before you do that run searches, because your question has been asked and answered several times...

Look at his post count, thats what n00bs do.

N00bs think that the forum was created the day they joined and nobody could have possible asked their question before they got here...

ok... feel like being a bit nicer now you guys have ripped this apart

here's a thread for cheap mods https://acurazine.com/forums/showthread.php?t=22444

by the way, I've heard that exhaust mod is mostly for show/sound, and doesn't add much hp.

Maybe I can save up for the 06 model. I hope it has something more than just the hp increase. If not maybe I'll get the 05. Those are sure to drop in price when the 06 comes out.

Is this just speculation or do you have some inside info?

I'm needing to get a new car very soon, but really could use the bluetooth phone feature. I've heard some people say it will be added to the tsx for 06, but then some say it probably won't. Any good solid word either way?

I'd like to get the car soon, but if bluetooth will be added, I wouldn't mind waiting, cuz I'd reallllllllllly kick myself if I bought one too soon and missed it.

No info is available yet and we likely won't hear anything until the end of summer. The '06s probably won't be available until near christmas anyhow.

If you just want bluetooth phone support there are plenty of good aftermarket alternatives.

True... I just like things best when its nice and integrated.. like how the tl mutes the stereo, shows info on existing screens etc..

When did the 05 tsx start selling? Wasn't it around oct?

Nope! Much later... they kept pushing back the date. It was the last one to go on sale. I think there were a few in earlier but the bulk were in Nov/Dec

You're correct. I remember because that's one reason I didn't buy an '05 last year. Why buy a new car right before the winter (with all the damaging salt and increased chance someone sliding into it due to icy roads). If they pull the same crap this year, I might end up getting 2005 or maybe even a 2006 of something else instead. With a kid due early next year, there is no more putting off replacing the Civic coupe!

Maybe they will add an LSD and nicer tyres? I actually only care about the LSD everything else can stay the same.

But there was still a wait sometimes. I would suggest getting an order in early and you might get one in Nov or Dec. I waited 7 weeks for my '05.

Nov/Dec seems awfully late but you do have to add about 1 month to the normal MY change over date (Sept) due to the boat trip across the Pacific.

Considering that the TSX has not had any real changes for 2.5 years, Acura should hurry up and ship the 06 already.

I recently test drove the TSX and TL. I have to admit, the reason I didn't either one is because of the lack of a factory aux input for an mp3 player such as an ipod and lack of Sirius. Acura must be joking that I can buy a cassette player installed in the TSX, but they don't provide aux inputs for the stereo. Cassette adapters for ipods don't impress me, and neither do FM transmitters. I have read the DIY threads, but I'm not sure I want to do DIY. Come on Acura, the sentra I drove last week had an aux input for a portable mp3 player. So as I ramble on, I'd like:
1. aux stereo inputs (factory or dealer intalled) for ipod
2. Option of Sirius instead of XM
These 2 things and I will buy one immediately. Otherwise, hello Lexus IS.

Nothing more puzzling than someone choosing one car over another because of a simple, clean DYI for way < $100

Why not just take the Sentra then

I heard from my local dealership there will be two new colors for '06. "alabasta silver" replacing satin silver, and "Glacier Blue Metallic" replacing meteor silver metallic. They're both really close to the colors they're replacing.
Anyone else heard this from their dealerships?

The dealers don't know yet so anything at this point is pure speculation.

According to VTEC.net, Honda has "worked through the NVH and reliability issues that they reportedly faced earlier and are once again preparing a turbocharged motor for the RDX". So let the turbo TSX rumors start again.

I'm not considering the sentra (it was a loaner). I am considering the 06 Lexus IS.
I just thought this thread was changes we would like to see.

Yes, your list of what you like to see on the '06 is absolutely fair and very welcome

It's just that your comment on apparently deciding against TSX/TL for the IS being hinged on those two things made me feel like

Here's my situation:
I'm ready to upgrade from my 2002 RSX to a new TSX. I was ready to buy the 2005 TSX (Charcoal Ext, Black Int, Navi, Auto - I get stuck in LA traffic too much for stick and I have a long commute), but now I'm hearing rumors about the 2006 changes to the TSX. The HP bump is interesting but probably wouldn't stop me from buying an '05 since the price is right now.

What I really want is MP3 support in the CD player. Are there any rumors about that or are the only rumors about an Aux jack? I might have considered the Acura MP3 player if it would have went behind the panel on the dash. I don't like how they have it sticking out on a plate where the swinging panel used to be.

The problem is that I have an Alpine 9831 in my RSX with a JL 300/1 amp and 10" Alpine Type R DVC sub, so I'm quite spoiled in the sound system area.

While I'm here, do you guys know if the 2005 TSX has any problem reading CD-R discs? That would probably be my saving grace if I can't have a MP3 player.

Thanks for any feedback since I'd like to make a decision in the next few days.

Rich

I always copy my original CD and use only the copies. They work fine for me in my TSX.

Never have problem reading CD-R and CD-RW disk. But I heard that it also depends on what software to burn the disk.

With all the rotor problem talk I hear lately, I'm thinking the 2006s need beefed-up brakes too!

Acura,
I would own one of your cars-right now-if you had an aux audio input. I want another car, I don't need it. I have decided to hold of to see what the 2006's will have. Guess what other manufacturer is including an aux audio input on their vehicles - Harley-Davidson. A motorcycle.

If you want to get an IS, you're looking at $27,585 to $42,475. If you want options on top of that, the price jumps up significantly. Lexus options are not cheap. That's why I like Honda/Acura products. They have few options for the car you are buying. Basically the car has everything you need.
