Cool Changes for the 2006 TSX

Has anyone heard of the changes to the upcoming year model for the Acura TSX? I'm getting ready to purchase, but will wait if there is something interesting around the corner.... besides, i can put aside $ for mods during that time!

Thanks Guys!

Actually, I'd love to see many changes for the 06, which is highly unlikely, but still would love it.

If these performance enhancements for the TSX are actually introduced to the market, do you guys beleive that the non-navi price will still remain under $30k?

Not unless they did away with several of the standard options like leather, moonroof, pwr seats, CD Changer, Xeons etc.

I just got a 2005 TSX...and now I am happy I did. I was leaning towards a TL but thought the TSX was a good compromise until I saw what improvements they were going to bring down the pipes.

If they go with the TSX AWD Turbo...heck, I may not go with a TL at all....unless they do the same thing it as well.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS!

No, it's just that the addition of memory is very real possibility for the 2006 model unlike an AWD 250HP Turbo TSX model -- which isn't likely to EVER happen!!

Honda usually does small upgrades every couple years (when they aren't doing a major make-over) so I fully expect to see some new things on the 2006 TSX models. I'm not holding ym breath, but wouldn't be surprised to see a small HP bump to (like up to 220HP or so). I do expect to see a new color or two along with a new wheel design. Since several people have been asking for memory seats for awhile now, it wouldn't surprise me to see them either -- especially since that would be a fairly easy thing to add. About the only other thing the car really needs is a less agreesive 6th gear -- this isn't a S2000 after all -- to get some better highway MPG numbers.

I doubt the AWD will make it into this generation of TSX. The TL will get it first and then possibly the TSX.

Turbo is definitely doable though.

Nope, I'm sticking with never on that one! Now I could forsee an AWD model if it's a hybrid further down the road. The is partly based on the fact that some official Honda rep./exec. in Europe was quoted saying that car (talking about the european Accord) was designed with the idea of possibly of adding IMA electric motors to drive the rear wheels in the future. I see that happening before they'd go turbo. They can get more power out of the engine without having to resort to a turbo -- like the "lesser" car makers.

The turbo would be carried over from the RDX since we share platforms. Honda has a couple turbos in their engine arsenal (albeit smaller engines) and they have done turbos in the past. If anyone knows how to make a reliable engine, it's Honda.

Don't forget that the CL8 Accord is AWD.

I've be out of the rumor mill for awhile I guess, because I hadn't heard about the RDX using a turbo. I assume that still just speculation at this point?

Is this what you are referring to as "CL8" Dan? Below is a copy-n-paste from http://www.honda.co.jp/news/2004/4041021-accord.html

I've found this and asked about this before in another thread... so the JDM Accord has already got 4WD, right? Anyone can read Japanese? Anyone from Japan (TL Tourer can help? ) to confirm.

Cool stuff... might just try it out

I can cheat by reading the "hon-ji" part of the Japanese though... coz I can read Chinese and some of the "hon-ji" characters share meaning with the Chinese ones

EDIT: as least most of these car stuff have numbers and English abbriviation anyway, make it easier to guess

Yes, the CL8 is powered by the 155hp K20 and it's AWD. Not SH-AWD but still AWD.

I believe the components are sourced from the CR-V.

Okay, I think I am caught up on the RDX stuff now (after reading some other threads). I really wonder if the RDX will actually have a 2.2l turbo 4! I suspect Honda is just leaking that as misinformation...remember when all the mags were saying the S2000 was going to have a V5? I suspect the RDX will have a 2.4L engine with with IMA with numbers similar to those we're seeing with the turbo misinformation. Just think of it as Honda way of hinting at what's coming while still faking out the competition!

My is that Acura will not boost the TSX's horsepower to near TL levels. If the TL has 285HP by 2007 then the TSX will not go over 240HP.

I hope you are right!

I for one (for whatever odd reason) would like to see Honda stay true to the NA engine approach (on gasoline engines anyway).

To me, the NA approach thing is the coolest thing (again, don't ask me why) of Honda and BMW. Especially the M motors, high displacement, high revving, naturally aspirated gasoline engines with high specific output... I love those engines! On the other hand, while AMG is cool stuff too, the super-charing routine is just too "easy"...

It's a safe bet that there will be a bump in power for the TL too. The rumor was that there will be a 300hp model around the same time that IMA is added to the RL (for around 350-385hp).

You must not be reading my posts. I think changes are due for the 06 MY -- which should be out this fall. As I said before I don't expect anything big, but I do expect to see the addition of a memory function on the driver's seat!

TOV Speculation

TSX - Sales for the TSX continue to be very strong. No doubt about it, this has been a wonderful surprise for Acura. For 2006 all that we've heard is that there are minor things going on and the motor will be seeing a slight increase in power. We've heard that many times before from Honda and the word "slight" seems to equate to 10-15hp. Since the Accord models are both being bumped by 10hp, the TSX should be similar. If you recall, the TSX was introduced early in 2003 as a 2004 model, so we thought there was a chance of an MMC happening for the '06 Model. But we may not see much of an MMC of it at all, as latest rumors peg the replacement of the TSX to appear in model year 2008 (in order to pulls it even with the European and JDM Accord model cycles). We created some waves recently by speculating in our model release matrix that we might see a turbocharged version of the TSX for the '07 model. To clarify, that is a purely speculative position, and this projection is entirely contingent upon whether or not the RDX will actually get a turbocharged motor. In
other words, if the RDX doesn't end up getting the turbocharger, that significantly reduces the chances of the TSX seeing one. And even so, the 2007 date is probably wildly optimistic. If an all-new TSX is ready to go for MY 2008, it wouldn't make much sense to offer a turbo in the '07 model. So I've revised the model matrix to reflect that. Also circulating in the rumor mill is that a TSX coupe and convertible are in the works. We give the coupe a stronger chance than the convertible, but in any case we don't expect to see either of them to appear before the model change.
