Please Help! EGR low flow and AC problem

Hi Guys,

I am new member of this forum. My 97 3.2TL has 150,100 miles so I know it is over emssion warranty. My checking engine light is on with a code P0401 EGE low flow. I already replaced EGR valve but the problem still there. I already read many threads how to clean EGR valve but anyone can give me more and further details how to fix a problem...Please help me

Recently, I have AC problem. Turned on AC with warm air blowing, even none of fan runs while AC on. I bought a botle of freon but still warm air. Anyone shows me how to fix please....

It's usually not the valve that's the problem when you get that code, it's the pipe underneath. It's bitch to get to, as deadsetonliving can attest to, haha. Try spraying carb/intake cleaner down the port holes when you remove the EGR, then reset your ECU by disconnecting your negative terminal for 30 seconds or more. As for the AC, we use R134a, not R12, but if the fans aren't coming on, check your fuses first.

~Cheers~

Thanks for your responding. I will use your guide to clean a pipe of EGR but I read someone recommended drill a hole to remove building carbon, no clue how to do it. Anyone can give me step by step in case the problem still exists even I clean a pipe. As my AC, I used R134a and checked fan relay, fuses but they are good condition

Thanks,

You have to drill if it's caked up so bad, not even chemicals will get rid of it. That's recommended only if the pipe is off the car, though. For your AC, maybe the fan switch wiring is melted or cut, take a look at the wires going into the fan.

I already checked all wire and they look good. I saw both fans running when the engine really hot so I think all fan relays or wires are good. My question is if I turn AC on, do both fans have to run? or both fan run only engine really hot?

One of them is always on with AC- on my 01 thats the passenger side one
Both may run when engine hot
If the AC was empty or close to it- you may just need another can- there is a capacity limit sticker there to advise you

One fan is dedicated to the engine, the other works for both AC and in turn, the engine. It's normal for the fan by the compressor to turn on to help keep it cool. I never paid any attention to them on mine...

Hi Guy,

I brought my car to independence shop for checking my AC. I have been told Freon was low and then they inserted freon into my car but the AC still not working. Now they said more problem with electric stuff. Fan and compressor work well, so they guess maybe climate control unit goes bad or electric control module, so far I already paid $200 but problem still there, it is pain. Any idea??

the climate control has a self diagnostic function.

Turn the ignition switch ON (II), then press both the AUTO and OFF buttons at the same time.

let me know which icons are on the climate control display after you do this.

^ Yes, plus we don't use Freon (R12) in our systems. Compared to R134a (what we use) the gas is denser, and using R12 can damage the system.

Could any one give me 97 TL AC annual troubleshooting? I have 1998 Integra and 2004 TL annual but 1997 TL, I wonder if my 97 TL has same troubleshooting with 98 Integra or 04 TL. Anyone here can show me how to test AC pressure switch and where is location of Climate control unit of 97 3.2TL? Thanks

yes, when I pressed both AUTO and OFF, warm air blew out. I have Accord 97, Integra 98, and TL 2004 service manual, there is troubleshooting how to fix a problem. Do you have 97 TL AC circuit diagram? If I have circuit digram, I can figure out the problem

A copy of the self diagnostic result sheet is posted in this thread. The image is not showing up on my machine. You could ask UnsanePyro to repost it.

^ It's too bad it wasn't the middle finger. That'd been funny if you were driving around giving everyone the finger since you have to keep it elevated, haha!
