Those are really good subs. I have Orion, but you can't go wrong with JL Audio.

I have one JL 12W6v2 with an Alpine digital MRD-M500 amp (500x1) in a sealed enclosure and it rocks. If you don't want something as big as W7's consier the W6v2's. They use the same technology as the W7.

i have had:
mtx - junk
polk audio DB series - nice but blew up too easy
jl audio W4 - great for the price and bumped hard. was pushed by this "lanzar" (or something like that) amp and the speakers burned it right up. so i went nice and got soundstream
soundstream reference - my favorite of them all. matched with my reference amps was beautiful

I sold them for about $500 each. I never used them. Brand new in the box. It was sad.

I bet to Differ about the MTX's. My buddy's dad sold them so I got just 1 MTX Thunder 5000 12"(lower end competition subs) for like 60 (120 retail) bucks, and an MTX 150 Watt amp for like $100...sounds pretty weak, but it was in a hatchback and it would shake the sunglasses off your face with good songs. But it was all low's, there were very little mid's, and obviously no highs. But the lows were insane...and mine were only thunder 5000's. I built my own box to specs from their website...it was a great setup until someone decided they just NEEDED to have my stereo...so they took it. Oh well, I got more insurance money back than I paid for the whole setup since I got it at cost.

Go with 2 10's for sure. I've got infinity's and they bump. If you want, i can get you a custom box like i have, built to fit perfectly w/o gaps into the trunk to fit 2 10's. I could probly get it for you for under 100. it is unstealable (3 separate pieces) and takes up a small amount of trunkspace, mostly unusable before anyway. If you're interested, PM me and Ill talk to the guy who did mine. Also, he'd do free install on anything. For a great deal on the subs and amp, go on ebay, got mine for like 230 shipped, when they retail for like 250 each.

arnt the jl audio w6 the sub that you need to use 3 subs for the best sound. I used to work @ a speaker store for all of a week like years ago, and one of the jl audio was made for using 3 in a bampass box.

I remember Blue Thunder's...but never had any. The thunder 5000 (which they dont make anymore either) 12" I had hit really low...how is the 10"? I bet a 12" 6000 and a 10" 6000 (which arent that expensive) would be a damn nice setup. You'd have huge lows and awesome mids.

I've got teo JL 12w0's (lower end JL's) in a ported box running off of a Coustic 4x75 watt amp bridged to 2 channels (one for each sub). Sounds really good. Good thump. I'm gonna be building a new box this year though, sealed and a little smaller, cause I am sick of having noooo trunk at all.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I'm going to look around for a used set of 2 10w6's with a enclosed box. What kind of amps do you guys suggest? You guys ever heard of A/D/S? Heard it was some high end amp. This dudes trying to sell me the 850.2 version for like 400. What do you guys think? I've gotten recommendations on phoenix gold, jl audio, and alpine.

I'd say if your getting JL's for the sub...I'd match brands with the amp. I dont know why, but my cheap system I used to have matched brands and they seem to sound the best. They make their amp perfect for powering their speakers I would assume. My two cents.

A/D/S are pretty good amps. I've got a PPI 2x50 running my front end and a Coustis 4x75 running my subs. Matching brands between amps and speakers doesn't really do anything for the sound quality. It's al about the quality of the individual components that will make or break your system. That neing said however, it just so happens that JL does make good subs AND good amps, so there would be nothing wrong with going with a JL amp as well. To run subs, you will want to look for an amp with t high current rating, and one that is stable down to at least 2 ohm loads so it gives you bridging capabilities.

HAHA, I had a buddy with those. I lived in a small town, on a good day, you could hear him a couple miles out of town. I'm not kidding either. Soundstream's tear cars apart though...thats the only problem. LOL

Ya man, Soundstream were the shiznit in that day. I still love the old Orion HCCA stuff too, my bro is STILL running an Orion 250 HCCA in his Maxima.... That thing PUMPS! At one time I had my whoole system running off of my 225. My girlfriend is now using my 14 year old Orion Cobolt 230!!! It still pumps her 12" MTX!! HAHA!!!

Hey guys. I just bought two JL audio 10w6's in a Qlogic enclosure with a 500w MTX amp. My friend sold all of that to me for only 300. He barely used it at all so I think its a pretty good deal. Just started installing it yesterday night. Had to take off the passenger seat and stuff so I could run the wires under the carpet. I should be done with it by today. I'll take pics after its finished.

Power wire is run down the driver's side, under the door sill molding and carpet, then under the back seat. RCA cables run under the center console, under the carpet at the rear tunnel, then under the seat. Speaker wires run under the passenger side doorsill.
