80 = 3000 RPM, and that's pretty much all I remember.

Is this a 3.2TL or 2.5TL?

If OD is not working, the Trans Control Unit (TCU) should set a code; P0740 (hydraulic fault) or P1753, 1758 (LockUp solenoid A, B electrical fault. The D4 light may flash and the Check Engine Light should illuminate. I've had P0740 on my 2.5TL for a while. Not much to do except overhaul the trans, but it shifts fine otherwise so I live w/ the fault. Only impact is reduced gas mileage when driving on trips, perhaps 10-15 % lower mpg.

good luck

No offense, but if you are regularly between 80 and a 100, I'd guess that's your gas mileage problem.

Yeah, I checked last night and that's where I'm at, too.

~Cheers~

P.S. This is Go90go, forgot to log Ken out again. My alternator cable got loose again so I'm here to tighten it and actually put a lock washer on it this time, . All of my tools are with a friend who needs his car up and running by Wednesday for SILV!

Well, it's the gearing that matters. If the 2.5 tranny had the same gearing as the 3.2 tranny, it'd be at the same RPM, too.

Actually on reflection, I think that 3000RPM for 120K is a bit high. It could be that the 2.5 tranny has a shorter final drive to bump acceleration up a bit.

I have a spreadsheet I put together to calculate slip between engine and trans torque converter, based on tire diameter, 2.5TL gear ratios. It says that 120 kph & 3000 rpm are almost a perfect match (< 1% slippage). So if your tire sizes are stock, then everthing is fine.

In my case, there is a torque converter lockup problem that sets code P0740. No fix short of pulling the trans so I live w/ it.

If you want the spreadsheet PM w/ your email and I'll email it to you.

good luck
