I'm not sure I just remember that when I showed something that I have done with my tweeters they asked if I had removed the sensor but I didn't know what it did.

Sunlight sensor

It is part of the automatic climate control system. It senses the intensity
of the sun coming in the windshield (and subsequently beating on your chest
and face) and adjusts the temp, fan speed and sets what vents to actuate in
order to cool down the front of your body!

Basically its proactive in its response to temperature/light.

Rather than just sitting around with just a temp sensor, the climate control detects sunlight and sends cold air as needed to maintain the temperature.

Also the black box vent you see on the wood bezel is part of the climate control unit.

Slightly off topic, but is it just me or does our climate control kinda suck? Let me explain - say I normally set it to 25c(77f), usually it's good but I constantly have to adjust it manually because sometimes it gets too cold or too hot, even though it's set to preserve that temperature. I know that it's not a big deal, but it just seems that its not very sophisticated. I've never really had the chance to drive another car with climate control long enough to figure out if it's the same thing that happens, but for some reason I think that in other (near)luxury cars it works the way it should.

I dont mean to sound like a prick, but the car is over 10 years old....

The automatic systems in todays cars, are much much better.

No, no, you don't sound like a prick, I know the car is old and I was wondering if they really are that much better in newer cars. I'm just saying that our Climate control is not very efficient(doesn't preserve set temp), but still better than two knobs.

I never use any "auto" mode on any cars that come with it, To me it seems not to do the job all that well... even the newer cars, i still do everything manually.

My 63 degree auto setting the day before yesterday worked perfectly. When I'm cruising around in normal weather, the setting is at 82 degrees with no fan, and if it's a rare warmer day, it gets set to 68, again with no fan. Works a treat, so I don't know why you guys are having problems.

~Cheers~

^ Nothing changes on its own, those are just the temperature settings I use.

I set it to 75 and rarely have to change it.

And one thing I will say, our A/C blows COLD.. and cools the car faster than many of today's cars.
