Passive Starter Kill Switch

Okay, check this out.

I'd like to put in a starter kill switch that is rigged via relay to my cruise control on/off button (next to the fog light button) so that the starter is disabled when the cruise control button is in the off position. To enable it, just hit the button and then start your TL. Since I never actually turn my cruise control on or off, I think my cruise control usually just stays on all the time just in case I want to use it, I can just hit the set button on the steering wheel. Anyway, how cool would this be? I'd feel like James Bond and at the same time, have the security of knowing my car won't be going anywhere without me.

How feasible is this? Check out the diagrams at http://www.the12volt.com/relays/page2.asp#psk of several possible setups.

Reply with your comments or suggestions. Thanks.

Go for it. I did one of those simple ones for a friend's car and then later he changed the switch to something with those RFID cards... basically if it is within range of the receiver like a foot or right next to it, it will be triggered.

Interesting stuff, but too complicated. A simple switch would do the trick.

All you would have to do is just replace the simple switch with that. Just two wires, snip and connect the two new ones. I guess it is kinda like the immobilizers in the cars today. If it doesnt match, it is like the starter kill.

Well I still want my cruise control to function, I just would like the cruise control button to turn on the cruise control as well as the disable the starter kill.

To do that, you would have to just wire up a relay to tap into the lead to the cruis control from the switch. that way the cruise would stay on but it would also activate the relay that controls the starter kill. (Using your previous diagrams for the starter kill setup, the relay that is triggered by the cruise would simply become the trigger for the starter kill)
