okay people...I've got 2 problems...

#1. Both my cooling fan and the rad fan doesn't turn on when i drive unless i turn on the a/c.

The car doesn't overheat at all but I'm concerned about what could cause the fans not to work. I've checked the fuses under the hood and by the driver side foot panel and they're not blown either. Everything else works fine as far as the engine is concerned. Could it be a bad sensor somehere? I'd appreciate any suggestions.

#2. My rear doors on either side only opens from the outside. I thought it was the child safety lock but it isn't since i adjusted it to try to open from the inside but still doesn't work.

Your thoughts please.....thanks

#1. Watch it carefully as you idle it for a while. The fan(s) should come on as it gets hot. Don't let it overheat, though, if there really is something wrong.
#2. They're busted. JK. I don't have a clue except for the child safety locks.

Thanks for your input. The thing is the car doesn't overheat at all even in parked mode with the engine running for 30 mins. The fans just don't turn on. The only time they work is when i turn on the a/c so i dunno. I just don't wanna fack up my engine.

One fan is for based on temp of radiator
other always comes on with the ac, the second one jumps in if needed
you may have a bad temp sensor- located lower corner of radiator

It is normal for fans not to engage while driving unless you put a substantial load on the engine (high speed, hot weather, hills) w/o the AC. If you park the car and allow to idle w/o AC, the fans should come on w/i 10-15 minutes. If they don't and coolant temp starts to edge above central position, then something is wrong. Most likely explanation, is the thermoswitch A, which should close about 185F(not sure) has failed open and will not close when coolant temp reaches the set point. A new thermoswitch A should fix the problem.

A failed-open thermostat might allow the car to run so cool that cooling fans don't engage. This would show up as coolant temp gauge staying in the far LH position all the time.

good luck

sleepy

go get funky or monkey or doc to replace the defective fan sensor or you will kill your battery and wear out the fan, overheat the wires and other unpleasant surprises

Thanks. Do you by chance have a pic of the area in question?

Thanks also for your input. The fans don't turn on even after 25 mins of idling. Is there an available diagram of where the thermoswitch is located? If its not too much to ask i'd really appreciate it.

I don't have a diagram on file, only hard copy. Thermoswitch A is on the lower side of the radiator on the driver's side. You'll have to remove the underbody dust cover to access.

A quick check to confirm this is the problem is to remove the electrical connector and install a short jumper wire across the electrical contacts of the harness connector. When keyswitch is turned ON, the fans should come on immediately. If not, something else is the problem.

good luck
