Damn, I love to drive at night now, it super wide and that's the point of doing a retrofitting. Man I'm not kidding, this is very bright (35watts) and I don't know why people putting 55 watts on their car, which I think is an over kill! So I was driving home the other day and i saw this 7 series (newest one) my car out shined them all lol.
BTW I don't recommend you guys to do this retrofit because its expensive and it takes a long time to get them done. Well if you are a hardcore like me you can do it at your own risk...Anyway it took me about 3 weeks to get everything done; I only had 2 hours per day to work on them so it too a little bit longer then I expected.
Noticed I wet sanded by hand for the driver side and the passenger side I used 3M headlight restoration kit ($20 great stuff). Only if I found 3M sooner god damn it!

Set up are:
OEm FX35 bi-xenon projectors
4300k Philips
Morimoto Digital ballast 35watts
2x H4 bi-xenon relay kit
Galting gun shround <<<don't get this is way too big for the RL.

At first I used the Greddy Ballast but for some reason the RL didn't like them. I blew 2 Greddy ballast, so I have to switch to Morimoto.

No man, you got've me wrong. The reason why I'm not recommend this is because it is a very hard project, and it is time consuming. Especially clearing out the headlight cover(96-98 models), it took me two days per cover! Well if you want to get all the troubles I've experienced then do it, you'll be WOW

No worries I was just bullsh@ting w/ you. But I do wish you would have posted the process step by step for others such as myself to try and duplicate. I want to do this for my 04 RL and and not have to pay the guys listed in my above post!

Is that a burn mark on the right side headlight? Very nice retro, how exactly did you "clear" the lenses?

It came like that when I bought from a guy in Hawaii. It doesn't look like a burn mark to me. To clear out the headlight lens you need to buy the 3M sanding kit (36-150 grits), I warn you, it takes time and try to keep the drill moving don't keep at one spot. After that I used 3M headlight restoration kit (20$, it works!). It going to cost you around $600 to retrofit, I got all the OEM stuff so it cost me around $600 range. I bet you can get around 450-500$ range depend where you get the parts.

Nice build. How long did it take you to complete your project?

After seeing your headlights, I always forget i have a Driver's side JDM clear headlight still for the 96-98 at the old house... and a driver's side fender and front bumper too... I should sell that shit. LOL

LOL, do you guys realize how old is this thread Anyway, for those of you who are interesting to get you headlight retrofitted, it is pretty easy but time consuming. It took me almost 2 weeks to complete the project. I just worked a 1hr per day since I had work and school, I borrowed my dad car haha. The hardest part is the aiming and aligning the projector so it is not crook or slanted. Trust me once you have completed, your headlights will be the brightest in your neighborhood. Anyway, here are the parts for the project.

OEM Infiniti FX45 projector $220
2.5" clear lens $25
Philip D2S 4300K HID system $220
Bi-Xenon wiring relay H4/9003 I believe $35
Galting Gun shrouds $45
2X 3M sanding kit (~45-200 grits) ~$20?
3M headlight restoration kit ~$25?
Nut/bolt/ reflective tape/ ???
Dremel buy/rent whatever you prefer lol

Hmm.. I don't if there is more or not can't remember right now.
Notice the prize is in 2010! so I don't know what is cost now.
The Inifiniti FX45 and FX-R projectors fit into the headlight, if you guys are getting different projectors make sure to measure them first.
