Is there an easy AUX option supporting Android/IOS that can be added like non-nav cars, leaving Nav working?
Can the radio be changed leaving the Nav functional?
Can a Dual DIN headunit be added where Nav is and leave the factory stereo as-is (not functional).
I found a product at Car Toys by iSIMPLE TranzIt USB. Costs approx. $90 after tax. It plugs in in-line with your antenna input to your stock radio. You can turn it on/off depending on if you want to use your Phone/MP3 or your radio signal. I'm at work at the moment, so don't have all of the pictures, but I will do a detailed article on it when I get home and share it with everyone. I know you're not the only one with this problem..
Don't be intimidated, there are not that many wires to manage, they are just unnecessarily long. The hardest part is determining your switched 12V power to splice into, and concealing all of the extra length of wire.
After splicing into power and the antenna signal via the supplied converter.
...And the final product, as I have it configured. I will probably write up another tread on this later on that goes into more detail, but I just wanted to get this out there for everyone to see that it really isn't hard at all! Enjoy!
Sorry for the delay Jeep92, but here are some of the pictures that I promised before. I won't go into detail describing how to disassemble the dash here, there are other posts on that, but here are some pictures of the progress and final product.
Great post Caljohn88, is your vehicle an 2004 model? If so it looks like you have a non-nav model. Will this work on a 2004 with Nav? Thanks in advance.
As long as you have an antenna input like the one pictured here then there should be no reason why it would not work. The adapter included with the kit comes with a power switch that will hijack your antenna input between a specific frequency range(or radio station). I think mine is 89.7...
Here is what the product looks like. As I said before, I bought mine at Car Toys. I'm not sure if you have that where you're from, but you can probably order it online. Good luck!
Let me clarify. When I said the "antenna input," I meant the cable itself shown in the picture, not the jack on the radio shown in the picture.. That was a bad example I pulled from the internet. I hope you're not confused.. lol Let me know if you need any help!
