96 RL Blower Motor Voltage

96 RL Blower Motor Voltage
I'm trying to pinpoint my air blower problem. It doesn't blow at all but I took the blower out and jumped it straight to the battery and it runs like a champ. Now I am checking voltage at the connection. On low I'm getting 10.6 volts but then it doesn't change until I dial the blower knob up halfway and I get 11.2, then 11.4 and then it doesn't change again until I turn it on high and I get 11.8. Trying to determine if the resistor is bad. Does anyone know what readings I should be getting at the blower motor connector? Or is this not a legitimate test? Keep in mind that when it is plugged in, the blower doesn't work at all, even though I am getting power.

thank you! Any chance you can explain why I get voltage at the motor but the motor won't run at all? I understand about the resistor choking the voltage down for the lower speeds but why is it not working at all when I'm getting 11+ volts? Thanks

I had taken the blower and resistor out to check the connectors but when I found out there is a self-diagnostic function I plugged them back in to run the test. When I did everything just started working again like normal. That was three days ago. I'm not complaining but I would sure love to know what in the world happened!

Good luck!

Thanks, I don't currently have a problem, but it's always nice to have a starting point if I encounter an issue with my climate control system. With a twenty-one year old RL it's usually not if, but when I will have an issue.
