Blower motor is intermittent
Blower motor is intermittent
Hello all,
Got a 2004 Acura TL. Having an issue with my AC/heater blower. Every once in a while when I turn the car on, the blower will not work. After about 1-10 minutes of driving, it will kick on and either the cool or hot air will work as usual. Is the blower motor going out? And if so are there any fixes you've seen that don't require the replacement of the motor, or is that going to be necessary? Thanks for any help that you can provide.

^What he said. Blower motor resistor, located on the outside of the air plenum chamber, passenger side just above the footwell. Lower the cover and look up. Look for the wire harness going into the resistor.
Honda/Acura calls it a "transistor", but it's just semantics. Works same as a resistor.
Not hard to change out, There are youtube videos out there on changing out the resistor, and there will be info on this website as well.
While you're changing the blower motor resistor, change the cabin air filter as well. That is located behind the glove compartment.

I had a similar problem with my blower motor intermittently starting and stopping. The problem turned out to be poor contact between the power wire pins and the blower pins. I just took a screwdriver and bent the pins so they'd touch more firmly. When I plugged the blower motor back in the problem was solved.
Try that before you spend money on new parts.
