1996 acura knocking when decelerating or braking

I have just recently obtained a knocking or thumping sound when the gas is not pressed and when slowing down and braking ... I think it may be my upper ball joint on the front left side.. and ideas?

My ball joint squeaked badly when I would turn or sit up and down in the car, that is when it was worn out, I don't know about a thumping. Could be anything from brakes to other suspension parts, just bring into a local mechanic and have them diagnose it.

You could need a whole new control arm, does it come only from 1 area?

That is weird, feel in pedal means more brake related mostly, feel in wheel means more suspension, I couldn't tell you maybe its both sadly.

I know I need he brakes due to a swishing sound when driving ... it needs some TLC and is a salvage car but I'm leaning more toward the ball joint more than anything else .. someone mentioned a thrown rod or possible low oil. I put in 2 quarts to see if that helped but it didn't . I think that a rod would clank no matter if I was accelerating or not

Its not a rod, if it was a thrown rod it would be clanking no matter what even at idle. I am guessing you need some TLC in the brakes/suspension, can't tell you much without looking at it.

Mine was making a wub wub wub noise when decelerating and it just felt messed up when driving. Hadnt had it looked at in awhile ended up that there were a number of things that were worn out. Front upper ball joints and control arms replaced, rear shocks and upper control arms replaced and its good now.

Yes putting in strictly 91 has oil leak as well looking into either selling the car as is or replacing engine but looking at 1200 for parts and labor hardly seems worth it

I guess it depends whats wrong with it and how much you like it. How many km's/miles and besides the knocking, how does the rest of it run?
