P0234 Overboost Error - No CEL
P0234 Overboost Error - No CEL
Hello everyone!
I live in Canada and its summer over hear, so no snow yet. I had to do my emissions test yesterday and decided to check the codes before I went. I let the car warm up and took it for a spin, then checked the codes. Low and behold, there is a P0234 error but no check engine light. I cleared the code and drove it around again, code didn't come back. Today, I was driving to work and under hard acceleration, it felt like it choked for a second (checked the code it was p0234 again). I was wondering if someone could chime in. My current mods are Rv6 Downpipe with high flow cat, ETS Intercooler, Flashpro. I'm only using the "Stock - Tuned" tune on the flashpro.
Can you get an overboost error because of poor gasoline? or because of max duty cycle for the injectors?

I have a feeling you may be having an inverse issue of what so many others have problems with.
The code sets when the MAP sensor shows more boost than it should basically. Therefore, I have a small inkling that you have a wastegate that's sticking. If it's sticking closed, it will allow more boost to build than the car "should have" and throw this code, and inversely, if it sticks open momentarily it will cause your other sensation of just not getting up and going because it's bypassing more exhaust than usual. Sometimes the latter can throw an underboost code as well.
My suggestion would be to check that wastegate, which you can kind of do by hand if try moving the rod of the wastegate to feel any grit. You may also have to pop your downpipe back off and actually inspect the flap as well, sometimes carbon build-up can do this.
