Dying RDX enthus...

So, my car has been in the shop for 2 weeks.
The tapping noise on the dashboard had gotten on my nerves 10 fold.
What I've heard so far, that they had to send an Acura Engineer to look at my car specifically.
They took my car apart, and realized it was a WELDING problem.
Are you serious. HONDA/ACura Structural engineer(s) didn't notice this problem on RDX's ahead of time?\
So The interior so far has been put back together..
fender is off to hear for road test to confirm noise.

They had to replace my headlight due to condensation build up(driver side)
Outside temp. sensor wire hardness was broken.
Key hindge would not lock, needed new key and re-programmed.
Audio and climate control system has to be retested again.. Seatbelt buckles needed to be replaced.

it's like, Seriously?
ACURA 2008, RDX, nearly a year, and all these problems hit @ once?
Is this considered a lemon?
I love my RDX, but w/ these problems all hitting once, I'm seriously considering switching to another commpany.
Not even looking at MDX and future ZDX, due to improper planning, engineering, and planning of the car builts itself.

So sad.

Interesting... I recently bought a 2008 RDX that Acura had to take back from a Georgia owner because of dashboard noise. Acura has certified it as fixed but from time to time I'm hearing a tapping noise on the drivers side if I don't have the radio on. The car still has lots of warranty on it so I'll be pushing my dealer on it. What side are you hearing the tapping?

The Front passanger side.
It's horrible, its tap tap tap tap tap, and they had to remove the windshield, dashboard, and body placing to seeth the harness/Welding problem.
I definitely question Honda/Acura Engineering now.
This is a first and It shouldn't have to doubt them at all, esp. when being such a long time customer.

buddy thats insane...at least they are following procedure and you are not getting the run around

my 07 was lemon'd - rattle in the roof they could not fix after taking it apart, same thing, an engineer flew out, they had to strip the car, they recorded everything, put back together, could not fix, and got a new car.

even tho its just a dashboard tap....dont weigh it lightly.....could be a lemon better safe than sorry,

the thought that my 07 had 6k miles on it and it was getting TAKEN APART that was enough for me, regardless of what problem it had, i didnt want the f'ing thing back period.

yeah Mike,
I've heard of couple of cases like this where they BUY THE ACTUAL Car back.
I'm financing the F*CKER.
I have literally 21000m on it.
And i've been financing for a good period of time...
I don't know if I want to go back to ACURA though, and the way i've had everything.
Makes me second guess. And Possibly even lookin @ Lexas RX350 (the new 2010) one.

And the MDX is still in consideration.l

So what does this "tap" sound like - is it loud?

Only slight rumbling noise I've heard is on the corner of the wind shield when I pass through the high air blower at my local touch less car wash.

your tapping may be bad, but if u could only listen to my rdx. thing is a bucket of bolts, and add to that, a noise that sounds like the frame is twisting...i feel like im driving an american pos, o wait, i kind of am.....

one thing u should be able to count on, Acura was extremely efficient with the process (about 1 months time) compared to Mazda where it was 5 months. I wouldnt worry, but if i was in your shoes, or maybe i will be in the near future, im not getting another RDX. i find it odd and worrying that an 07, an 08, and the 09's have similar problems. call it (bad) luck of the draw, but those odds are pretty poor, between the 2 RDX's ive owned and the numerous loaner RDX ive had due to extended service, IMO, the RDX has some issues. id either get an MDX if the deal was right, or leave the brand entirely.

I'm really, really sorry to hear about both of your problems. Mike I had an '07 & it was pretty good, slight rattle noises, but nothing bad at all. My '08 is nothing short of fantastic..no noises at all, or at least, not yet!
I know that having vehicles like those are a real pain, & it defiently can turn you off about a product line. Good luck to you both!

Say it isn't so...What kind of weld are we talking about here? Whole side of car to front or misc. sheet metal to front of car?

Wow that really sucks. I've had my RDX over a year and no problems at all (knock on wood). I would definitely keep pressing your dealer. At least the good thing is that it's all under warranty. In fact the only thing I have noticed about my RDX is that it takes the temperature reading quite a bit of time to get to the actual temperature. There was one day where it was 90 degrees and it read 68 for at least half of the day and finally crept up to 80 degrees. Next oil change I'll have them look at it.

My 07 RDX has a ticking noise on the passanger side also. I think it's the glove box though. When I drive it ticks, but when I press my hand on the glove door it stops. It must be loose, or something inside the box might be making the noise. I hope it's not a welding problem. I'm going to stop in to the dealer to take a look. It's only been like this for about a month now.

I also have another noise from under the dash right behind the steering wheel. It's related to the climate control though. It makes a squeaking noise when I change the temperature up and down. This has been going on for about 8 months now. This sucks because to fix that they'll have to take out the entire dash probably.

You might want to re-read all the problems I'm having.
I'm putting pressure on the Shop & Dealership.
I'm pressing them for Equal/better value trade-in plus better finance situation into an MDX.
I'd go for a ZDX but It's not out yet...better yet, I'd prob switch companies, but Money is tight of course.

Sure as soon as I posted my "only" issue, this week my windshield is making light creaking type noises (could be the pillars or the pillar moldings too) on the top corners (both driver/passenger sides). I have acute keen hearing so it's really bugging me, to the point I have to raise the volume past 10.

I really hope it's the change of weather, going from super cold to humid & above warm temps. Crap!

It should never be about COLD OR HOT..it should be about PROPER STRUCTURAL ENGINEERIing.
Why should we submit to making up our own excuses basing it on expectations hoping its HOT or cold..if its creakin..or cracking..then they must fix it. GEt it rght the first time, then u wouldnt have to deal with us being unhappy customers n enthusiasts

Zoiks. I took my RDX in last week for the 15k service as well as to have them look at a rattle that started about 2 weeks back. Most noticeable upon initial startup (cold).. specially when backing up or idling/slowing down. Seems to go away after warms up. Sounds like its coming from behind glove box area. I've emptied glove box/opened it up and its coming from engine bay. Perhaps loose heat shield.. I dunno. Got it back and they said tech couldn't recreate (of course,) bring it back for all day eval. Soo I'm dropping it off Monday night and getting a loaner so they can start it up cold Tuesday and recreate. I also noticed the ticking once or twice from up near the furthers gauge cluster.. but I just chalked it up to cold plastic. Hmmmmmmmm.
