Creak Noise update

Well....round 2 at the dealer...who won?

the dealer for now. good service & great job..they had to strip the door and b pillar down, and put everything back together again. no frame issues. Pieces of installed parts were overlapping causing loud stress pops/creaks when the car would, well, basically, move. My test drive with the mechanic who worked on it before lasted 10 ft and 2 seconds, still inside the service bay.......they insulated the parts with foam taping & reinstalled for better alignment. So far, the passenger front side of my car is silent, this is prob where 80% of my bucket of bolts aggravation was coming from. Went into the service bay and the mech said alot of the pieces underneath were not foam protected and causing alot of noise, wasnt sure if they were all like that but my RDX was the first one with this kind of situation.

some comforting news was that, when talking to the manager, the RDX right now has ranked at the top of the problem free ladder. the TSX/RDX were the best builds, they told me the new TL had tons of visits for build quality issues, the RL suprisingly as well and the MDX.

so far, so good....altho I did hear a little noise after a few days but as long as it doesnt return full blast, i think ill be ok.

im sensing that alot more corners are being cut, what they told me with the RDX confirmed my beliefs - even tho they said it was solid in the lineup. Hondas/Acuras are not being built like they used to be. Less materials, less stamps, less welds, etc etc = lower cost, i cant blame them, but my first car was a 95 Accord EX 2 door, i clocked over 200k miles and never heard a rattle. Call it luck of the draw, but no car is that lucky.

I'm glad they got it fixed for you. Mine is creaking like no other in the back of the car, even just backing it out of the garage. This is after I got the front creaking in the dash fixed.

Looks like another trip to the dealer for me.

On a side note, I too had a 94 Accord EX Coupe and it was the best built car I ever had. You can definitely tell the build quality then versus now.

I have a really loud creaking noise coming from the center of my dashboard near the speaker. The whole thing creaks when I push the dash board or going over bumps. I haven't had a chance to bring it to the dealer. But this one is very pronounced so I don't think I'll have a problem with the dealer.

I have the popping noise from the front of the car. I had a thread on this a while back and numerous people had it as well. Dealer couldn't duplicate and I just don't care about going back right now. It doesn't seem to have any rhyme or reason has it will pop on smooth roads without hitting any bump.

I just noticed a very quiet creak near the drivers seat - which might be what you are experiencing.

yea the popping dash noise was in my 07 and still in the 08, i dont think i want a dealer attacking my dash for a minor noise, im glad the door is ok, at least for now, that was ridiculous dealing with 24/7

I used to have the creaking noise from the passenger's side dashboard. Then after a year, it went away! Hurray!
But now a creaking started at the back....I cannot pinpoint the exact location of this creaking...

I had the same thing. Creaked every so often when it was cold out. Last winter...nothing.

darn it. managed to figure out where the noise is coming from, the latch/lock of the glove compartment (eg. it's not as tightly fitting as when you close it so if you hit bumps, they rattle - plastic to plastic, i presume). anyone have any idea how they fix this themselves? if not, i didnt see any tsb's so rather than risk the dealer screwing it up even more, im just gonna live with this. at least i found the source and i can take my time figuring out how to fix it, just wondering if there's a how-to here already (so far no sticky's on this).

I've had my 08 at the dealer at least five times to fix the "pop", "crack" noises coming from the area where the dash meets the windhield- both sides and the middle. Still can't figure out what's the cause even after dismantling most of the dash. As others stated, the noise occurs randomly; sometimes when hitting an expansion joint in the road, other times when on smooth surfaces. It is getting worse as the weather gets colder.
Has anyone had success in figuring out what the cause might be?

I'm going back for #6 visit on Monday so any clues will be greatly appreciated.

For my car 2010 RDX, the noise is from inside the panel above my head. It happens in the summer, not in the winter.

This car has its hot and cold streaks like no other. When its hot out - i have the seat rattle. Cold out? the glove compartment rattles like no other, and there are various rattles from the doors, seats n dash. Heat expands rubber, cold contracts...CMON WTF Whats really odd about the RDX is that i cant say any noise/rattle is consistent and steady, they just come and go here n there, but they always come and go. usually, any car i had a rattle - it would be that rattle, 24/7. not so in the RDX.

Hey true lies....tell me more about your 'above head rattle'....my above head rattle moved me from a new 2007 to a new 2008.......

Mine doesn't come and go

The creaking/popping sounds from the base of the windshield don't come and go in my 08 - unfortunately. They are always there- it's just how frequent the pops occur. This has been going on for two years.... Driving me nuts.

I'm wondering whether a good dose of silicone spray applied to the windshield/dash joint might help.

truelies, I had the squeak above my head after a glass company installed a new windshield.
I found two things, the plastic cover that hides the rearview mirror wires was rattling. The new windshield did not have a retainer like the old OEM windshield did. I silicone glued it in place along with duct tape (you can't see it because it is covered by the overhead console!
Also there is a metal plate in the overhead console that mounts to the roof structure. I put duct tape around this metal plate so when it mounts against the roof structure it won't rub and squeak/rattle.
This fixed the noise completely at top windshield/roof console area.
P.S. I have my V1 Radar detector on my visor. From the added weight of the detector the damn visor squeaked. I used silicone lube in a tube (used for rubber dressing) on the plastic hinge. No more noise!
Now I have to attack a rattle under the car at the right rear wheel.

Each time I read these posts, I am happier with my RDX. Maybe cuz I go to church? Mine is quiet and solid. Other than the back seat where I used hockey tape, not a rattle to be heard.

Amen.

No creaks on my 2010 RDX, but my old BMW X3 had major door creaks because of the door seals and that was a common problem.
