Anyone install the acura 2 way remote starter on their rdx? At work the rdx is parked outside for about 8 hours and toronto winters just keep getting colder and colder.

I know its not recommended to leave the car idling for more then 2 minutes, but it just feels bad when you shift out of park and the poor little engine is still reving above 1k.

 

I own an auto & truck accessory store and I have installed a 2 way remote start/alarm with no problems. There are several brand names other than Acura out there , just be sure to go to a reputable shop!

 

Ca-670 is what I have, with the phone pager system. works VERY well. make sure that the shop that puts it in for you .. if aftermarket... that they go INTO the doors for locks and arm disarming... seperate wiring and needs to be diode isolated as well. I hesitated at first to install it since the two way remote is usually somewhat larger then regular key fobs a slight bit smaller then the beefy stock key/fog though. ONly cuz i didnt want the aftermarket two way remote and the original key and remote, too much stuff to carry, so i use the valet key and the new two way remote, no need for me to lock the center or glove.

 

ya I have a compustar on my prelude, but I really want to keep it "factory" looking lol.

On a side note, I'm surprised the rdx doesn't come with an audible alarm if someone tries to open the door. I had a rental grand prix and it had that feature. Tried it on the rdx (locked my self in with the remote), open the door and nothing.

 

how did you 'open the door'? cuz there is a horn honk on the alarm on the rdx. If you used the key in the door on the outside then it would disarm the factory alarm.

 

no i had the key fob in my hand, locked it from inside, i opened the door with the switch on the inside (manually) and opened the door.

Maybe it takes a few seconds for the alarm to activate?

 

locked it from the inside? you probably never turned on the alarm then in the first place. Especially if you didnt wait a good amount of time for an auto arm which i dont recall if it has. The ways to arm it is by key in lock in driver door, or with key fob button locking doors. Hence the same way to disarm it

 

I think he meant he locked it using the remote from inside the car.

 

maybe so, dont know of another explaination though since there is an 'alarm' type device on the car.

 

yes thats how i locked it. I do notice the red light flashing now days when i walk up to the car before unlocking it in the gauge area. I don't think that red light was flashing when I was sitting inside.

We called up acura and they did say the rdx comes with security system to prevent against vandalism (as well as the chipped key)
