2007 Tech - want to add iPod control and/or bluetooth streaming

I have a 2007 Tech and am trying to figure out how to add a couple features to the stereo -

1. iPod control - the aux doesn't allow control, obviously. I want to be able to change tracks from the steering wheel.

2. Bluetooth streaming - less important, but would be nice.

Initially I wanted to drop in a better head unit that features bluetooth but it looks like I'd probably run into issues. I'd like to keep the stock features working, just add more functionality. If anyone knows of a drop-in head that works well, please let me know.

I also found this thing: http://www.gtacarkits.com/product/ac...phone-aux-kit/

Anyone have experience with it, or a better suggestion?

Thanks!

I've used USA-Spec adapters in the past and always had a good experience. Might be worth a look.

Thanks Tom. Does it display the track info text? Does it interfere with your XM?

Other options I've dug up as well:
USA Spec at Crutchfield
Neo
iSimple (common on eBay)

GROM

Never used it in the RDX so I can't say for certain, but on my Cobalt, which has a much simpler interface, it showed the track / artist details and was controllable through the radio interface.

Based on the screenshots in the link I posted before, it looks like it shows all the same info on the main audio screen in the RDX. It piggybacks on top of the XM signal, but to my understanding will not interfere with it. More like it borrows one of the unassigned channels way up in the hundreds.

For anyone else that wanders into this thread:

I did end up with a USA SPEC PA15-ACUxl.
It's $130 on Amazon It's $130 on Amazon
.

This unit allows good iPod control and is supposed to show correct text through the car's interface. It also allows you to keep your Live Traffic and XM active. It appears to be the best, cleanest solution for adding "just" ipod control. The downside is I don't believe it allows bluetooth or HD radio.

Another good solution appears to be the PXAMG adapters, which also allow for HD radio but I believe they disable or interfere with XM or at least the traffic.

For more info on what's available, I suggest checking out this thread - the newer posts have good info on the newer solutions on the market.

I have been using this for years, it does not interfere with xm or nav traffic. The only negative I have noticed is it is a pain in the rear switching between hd radio and reg radio. Hope this helps

Any advice on an iPod adapter for a Base 2007 RDX? I want the playlist or song showing on the non XM radio display.
Read all 4 pages of another thread about: what ipod adapter to choose, but seems everyone there had the Tech package.
Thanks.

iPod adaptor available

Not sure if you're still looking, but I can sell you mine - Neo Car Audio. Lets you control the music thru the audio controls in the car. Super easy installation - if I can do it, you can do it. $60 shipped to Continental US. Let me know.

Yes, I am still interested, but would like more info on this Adapter, how it works, would it show the playing track on the SUV's display, or it will only controls the music up and down and volume? Remember my RDX is the base model no XM radio.
Thanks.

Sorry about the delayed response, as I had to call NEO customer service about this. This particular model NEO would not display the song info on the non-tech RDX. Sorry about this. I can lower the price to $50 if you still want it.

Thanks for your answer and no worry, I am in a long 8 day motorcycle ride, so I couldn't check your answer until now, since I do have a current fix, and play the iPod already without displaying the track and playlist, I must say I am not interested.
Seems as there is no way to show the tracks in a non tech model, thanks for your kind offer anyway!

Not sure if you've found something else, but it turned out that the device I have has Advanced setting, which allows it to control the music from the steering wheel - I didn't know that. http://www.neocaraudio.com/pdf/PODHONR3V2Y.pdf

I still have it if you're interested.

Added the USA Spec HON3 to my non tech 09 this past weekend...ignored the install directions about the xm/aux vs cd/aux and installed to the xm hookup. Worked great, song titles and artists show on my screen where xm info was and bluetooth capabilities for phone calls is vastly improved as well.

For anyone with the 2007 or 1G tech package, the USA Spec ACU-15xl works: https://acurazine.com/forums/1g-rdx-...uctions-960484
