Just had my first oil change today at 6646 miles. Bought Mobil1 5W-30 Extended Performance 5qt jug at Wal Mart for $28, Mobil1 M1-110 Extended Performance oil filter from Autozone for $9, oil change labor at my Honda dealer for $9. Total to $46. I waited for about 15 minutes

Why not just do it yourself, or let the dealer provide the oil and filter? You basically combined all the "chore" aspects of changing the oil yourself with the inconvenience of still having to go to the dealer! ;-)

Regarding the 6646 miles -- did the vehicle maintenance minder call for the oil change at this mileage, or did you just go ahead and do it on your own schedule?

Just curious if the Mobil1 Extended Performance had the HTO-06 certification on the jug you bought.

I would do it myself but I don't have any time right now. We just got back this Tuesday from our 3700 miles trip from Oklahoma to LA to SF to Vegas and back. My wife and I we've been busy trying to catch up at work this past couple of days and we have to make another trip to Dallas/Fort Worth area tonight for the weekend to meet up with my parents and my sister and her new husband that drove from LA and should be in the DFW area by this afternoon. Plus paying $9 to have the dealer change out your oil is not that bad.

Also, I bought the oil and filter myself because I wanted the Mobil1 Extended Performance oil and filter put in the car rather than the regular Mobil1 oil and Honda filter.

For the maintenance minder, this morning when I got it changed it was at -40 Miles overdue for A1 service. A for the oil chage and 1 for tire rotation. Again I went over because oil life was finally at 0% on Wednesday morning, but I didn't have any time to change it myself or have the dealer change it until this morning.

Yeah, I was only giving you a hard time since you worked so hard to get the oil change done -- I understand your reasons and being busy.

Back to my real question, did the vehicle maintenance minder call for the oil change at 6646, or did you just go ahead and do it on your own preferred schedule?

No problem, I just edited my first reply to your post to answer your question

No it doesn't, and I haven't seen any regular Mobil1 5W-30 quart size bottle with the HTO-06 certification on it also. I did call Mobil1 tech support and they say they will start producing the new label soon to reflect the HTO-06 certification on both regular Mobil1 and Mobil1 Extended performance.
