Looking for 2008 RDX Remote Starter

I have been looking for factory Remote Starter for my RDX'08 instead of aftermarket.I recently visited online acura.com there is a factory remote starter on the RDX10 under accessaries for $550 .Does any one of you know,is it compatible with 08 RDX?

Thanks for your inputs!

I would get the manual to make sure it's what you want. I got my wife a 09 honda civic with the factory remote start and I was so disappointed in the features. I figure since the acura remote start cost and looks similar as the honda, so it must be just as bad.

1) Doesn't integrate or replace the original remote/key.
2) It's big, almost like carrying a small cell phone.
3) The worst part, you can not open the doors while remote start is on. The car will turn off if you open doors and you have to use the key not the remote to open door while in remote start state.

I should have got the aftermarket remote start.

Also, we got the Civic because she didn't like the new Acura TSX. She thought is was so ugly and big. She doesn't like big cars, she doesn't even like driving the RDX.

I called Acura and asked for 2010 Remote Starter compatiblility. They said it does not support 08 and 07.I need one badly,I am planing to go with after market VIPER 5901 with added feature trunk release and winodws automation.I called a guy found his contact info on the VIPER.COM ,he is going to charge me $550(VIPER 5901)+$170(windows automation kit)+no installation charges in Atlanta GA.

Pls let me know your suggestions. He said he has been doing this work for many acura vechicle and no issues.

Check a Canadian Acura dealer. I have a factory remote start on my 08.

It sucks for range and it shuts off when you unlock the door (annoying) - but otherwise no complaints.

Any of them? It's an Acura accessory. I don't see why it wouldn't work, but ask Acura.

Trust me, get the after market. If you don't trust me, go to the dealership and ask for a demo of the remote. See if it will fit on your key chain or integrate with your current key. Try entering the car while in remote start mode. Having the remote start and the car remote/key is a pain to have in you pocket, it so big and bulky.

Anybody else care to talk about their experience with the remote start?

It's big, but any extra fob sucks IMO. You only get one controller with the system, most aftermarkets give you two. And having it turn off after unlocking the car is just stupid - no other system does this.

That being said, I've had aftermarket systems and seen the quality of their install. Just a bunch of crimps and a nest of hacked wires under the dash. I didn't want to do that to my new Acura.

I called all Acura dealers in Atlanat GA.They have 2010 RDX remotes in stock but they said it won't work with previous year RDXs.I even raised a question ,there are factory remotes in Canada for 08 and why can't we use them here. They said it is different car technology in Canada.I said can you try the 2010 model remote on my 08 RDX ,they said until I buy it and try. They will not accept returns.

my only concern is ,if I buy after market one,for some reason my RDX malfunction like start up issues with my ignition key or any battery dead, dealer wont take care of it since I installed after market remote and messed up with harness.I thought instead of messing up the harness I would go for factory one and I don't want to carry it with me all time.I will only use it once in a day in the morning hours to my work.I can't really sit in the car in summer/winter to warm up the engine.

welcome your inputs!

The only thing I can think of is the Canadian models have wiring provisions already in them for a remote start - so the system is plug and play. The US models might have this as well - but someone needs to confirm it.

Also note - The factory remote start doesn't work with the Hondata ECU.

I also wonder if the 2010 system is better than the one I have.
