Alarm going off, need to replace hood latch

Hi everyone, I have a 2010 RDX and my alarm has been going off randomly.
Did some research and it goes back to the hood latch needing to replace, or I can just disconnect the sensor to it as i dont really care for the car since its a beater and if i can avoid spending money on it would be great!

however I need access to the hood latch and I cant find anything online or youtube.

Do I just take the top plastic piece off? and Im in?

Thanks!

I had the same problem. You don't actually need to replace the latch. If you disassemble everything and unplug the latch, the system assumes the hood is closed and will leave you alone.

The bad news? To get to it properly you need to pull the bumper and work your way from the front. There is a 07-11 RDX service manual somewhere on this forum that shows the procedure. I was going to replace the latch as well, but it's only available from the dealer for ~400 CAD

Post #14 has the service manual.

Find the section to remove the hood latch + front bumper. It's not that hard.

You might able to get to it by sacrificing the plastic trim - although I cannot confirm sadly as I took it apart.

The plastic trim is only being held by a few clips and like 2 screws correct?

To do it the sketchy way without removing the front bumper, see posts #129-132.

This is assuming the hood latch is actually your problem.

Thank you, I will try that, seems simple.

I believe it is the hood latch because when I try to lock the car with the remote, I dont hear the "honk" anymore after I click the lock button twice, it used to work after I hit lock twice but not anymore.

It could be the hood latch, liftgate latch, or any of the door sensors though
