Viper 5900 TSX Issue - Hood
Viper 5900 TSX Issue - Hood
OK I don't know if this should go here or in audio/video section. It's just the guy who installed my alarm system says that he can't hook up the alarm to the hood because it would send false signals to the factory alarm system or something like that. I only heard something about sending false alarms or signals if he was to hook the alarm to the hood. So if someone was to open my hood, the alarm won't go off.
I'm posting it here in the TSX section because he said that on other TSX that he installed, he didn't hook it up to the hood either because it had problems.
My question is, those with Viper 5900, is your alarm hooked up to your hood? I don't know if this guy is bs'ing me because he just don't know to complete the job or he might be telling the truth.
PS. I got him off craigslist

I had an issue with my hood on my old car when I connected the 791xv because I didn't have an open hood indicator. If your car has an indicator that tells u when your hood is open then it shouldn't have an issue recognizing once your hood is open and causing the alarm to go off.
My boy has worked on cars and deals with alarms and has been doing so for years. I have some experience but not as much as his but we both agree that this would be the same type of issue. Any type of false alarm could also come off the fact that if the sensor is loose or not well grounded so if the trip keeps lifting then it could send plenty of false signals. These are just a couple of probs that it could be. I never heard of anyone else having this prob so not sure but give us an update if you find anything out.

Dang I almost forgot about this thread. Any ways, it turns out my original installer just sucked and tried to BS his way around me so he wound't have to do it. I paid another dude on craigslist 15 bucks to hook up a so called hood pin switch. It works and hasn't been throwing any codes, according to my original installer. I really like having the hood pin switch though because it's something that the factory alarm doesn't have, since the car can't tell if the hood is open.
