2011 RDX Alarm Problem

I did some troubleshooting and it looks like the problem with my alarm falsely triggering is a faulty hood latch switch. I wasn’t able to find any information on how to replace the hood latch. Also, it looks like a rather difficult to get access to the hood latch.

Does anyone know where the alarm module is located? I was hoping it is easier to get access to the alarm module and then I could do some further diagnostics or remove/jumper the connection for the hood switch right at the alarm module.

Interesting 🤔, I would check under the driver’s dash. Good luck, keep me informed ℹ️.

The hood latch connector is super easy to access. If you don't want to buy a new hood latch just leave the connector disconnected and your alarm won't go off on its own anymore.

Where can I find the connector for the hood latch? I am assuming there connector is on hood latch which I can’t even see peering at it through the small opening. I am also assuming there is another connector on the alarm module. Any help finding and disconnecting either connector would be much appreciated.

It's located on the side of the radiator support. 2 wire gray connector.

Thanks, but the cover over the hood latch on my RDX is different. It appears as if I need to remove the front fascia (which is also connected to the front bumper) to be able to get access to the hood latch/connector.

Let me look at one in person when I go in tomorrow so I can better explain. There's always an easier way lol. Screw removing the bumper (even though it's easy to do)

Thanks. If it’s not too much trouble, can you also include pictures?

From looking at one today I would try removing the 2 10mm bolts and all clips on top then try pulling the bumper/grill out enough to reach your hand in there...

Thanks. I had tried what you suggested with no luck. I wasn’t able to remove it nor create enough space to disconnect the hood latch wiring.

I took it to the dealer yesterday and the service advisor said the alarm and door locks wouldn’t work anymore if the hood latch wiring was disconnected. Luckily the service manager joined the discussion and agreed that what I had suggested would be fine and the alarm and door would continue operating (not for the hood though).

Best part was it only set me back 1/2 hour of labor. I’ll update this post if there are any more false alarms.

I managed to address the obnoxious alarm issue on my 2011 Acura RDX (especially when it goes off at 2:00 AM). Removing the front fascia/bumper was definitely necessary to disconnect the hood latch sensor. After disconnecting the cable I covered it up in plastic wrap and secured it with tie wraps. Appreciate the info I found in this forum.

I just took a long thin serrated knife and stuck in between the covers and cut the wire close to the connector about 5 months ago. Alarm hasn't come back since then LOL.
