No power...low rpm's

Okay, so I've had my cl for around 3 years now and have never figured out this problem. Mods, I've spent serious time searching for an answer, but have yet to find one - if it's out there, lemme know.
Engine specs:
f22b1 - 5 spd
Synthetic oil since day 1
Regular maintenance (egr system, cap/plugs/rotors, seafoam..etc)
312,xxx KMS
Original clutch (no slippage - I'm not lying, the previous owner said he spent the majority of his time on the highway)

So this is the typical 'I have no power in lower rpm's' issue. In every gear, unless I'm above 2500rpm's, I have no power. It feels very un-smooth and sluggish under aggressive acceleration when it's below the 2500 rpm mark. It feels like power returns (and is much more smooth) after 2500 rpm's and carries through the higher rpm's very well. It almost feels like it's hitting a premature vtec at 2500...weird.
The car has been like this from day one, and i've talked to mechanics and no one can seem to figure it out.
My brother-in-law has a '97 exr 5spd and has the exact same issue. He changed the timing belt...got a full tune-up and it improved slightly, but it's still there - makes me think that it has something to do with the f22b1's.

So, here's the crazy thing - when the car is cold, this issue doesn't exist AT ALL. The power band is smooth all the way through the rpm's. It only really happens when it warms up.
Any thoughts??????

That's funny, because Gr8dale regrets getting a cold air.

i could see the issue there...hassle with the bypass valve, and maybe even after tht...probably paranoid about hydrolocking

I don't think it has anything to do with the style intake I have...I bought the car bone stock and noticed this issue from the beginning...like I said, my brother-in-law has the same engine (bone stock) in his accord and he has the same issue...

I've got the same issue as you do pjosh... exactly from day one. I'm bone stock, 262K and have had this problem since I bought it. It runs better when cold, but after it warms, it falls on it's face during take off until 2k+

No aftermarket intake here.

I have been driving 4 cyl. Honda's since 1988. My uncle's 94 accord has 3 times the power from idle to 2500 rpm.

It's not normal. Some times it's nearly impossible to take off on a hill without smoking the clutch.

Isn't there a port somewhere that opens up extra volume in the intake tract during low rpm's to boost torque? Is that tied to the enrichment cycle somehow?

For some reason we lack torque down there. I have the same problem as well. My 96 accord was able to do burnouts from an engine standstill. It had the non-vtec motor and had loads more torque in the lower rpm. I have the same intake and exhaust on this car, transferred it over when I bought the cl.

Don't worry, I feel mine has started recently, although its dying more at 500rpm, rather then 2k.

When its above 1k, everything is fine...and V-tec doesn't kick in until 3.5k rpm for me. ;[ I'm scared of idling these days cause it idles between 500 rpm and below rather than the usual 1k+ rpm.

TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) They're notorious for going bad on our CL's

So the TPS is the culprit of why my car is idling so low now?

Maybe you should take a vid flooring it to 60mph so we can see what's you're talking about?
Ohh right, you might run out of video memory by the time it gets there.

That's usually the case if it's having trouble idling, not guaranteed, just a trend that needs to be mentioned

As far as I know it only happens to the f22's. There may be an extra intake valve, but i'm not sure if that would make a difference. I had the same problem with my stock air box as i have with my sri. I think the key lies in the cold/warm issue. It revs beautifully when cold, but choppy when warm...any other thoughts out there?? I'm thinking maybe fuel filter...???

oh yeah - here's a few recent pics for those that asked.
I hit a seagull a month back that totalled my grill, so i had to go back to the drawing board. with a lot of bondo, patience and NO MESH this is the finished product. I mounted the badge with a metal bracket to the rad-support so it's not going anywhere. (there are enough posts out there with varying opinions on my use of the type s badge, not looking to rehash them). I hope the 'no mesh' design doesn't bite me in the winter...lol

The CL looks good pjosh. I suggest to put a THULE wind deflector for that roof rack. It would look sick.
Next summer we should def have a meet for T.Dot CL's.

P.S did you get the problem fixed? lol I kind of have the same issue right now.
Did the fuel filter made any diff?

thts usually a sign that your CL just fucked up like all the rest. this is a common issue not only in the 4 banger but the v6 as well..the tranny syndrom, v6 combined with a glass tranny = POS 1st gear.

but ya point is your shits fuked up

I do have the same problem for almost 3 years now. I bought it 5 years ago with 80K miles. Now it is 125K miles. My engine give out a moaning sound between 1500 and 1800 rpm.

I recently cleaned up my EGR port and it seemed to have improved but not much. So I decided to clean the throttle barrel and intake manifold. Now I regret doing it. Now my rpm is surging at idle. I cleaned the IACV valve but no avail. I thought it could be an air lock in the radiator so I bled the system but still nothing. So I decided to change all the gaskets related to Intake but still no change. Now I am frustrated what is going on.

I wish I read this thread before I decided to mess with my car.

Any suggestions will be most welcome
