EGR Flow - Check Engine keeps popping up.
Following the advice given here, I disconnected the battery, replaced the gasket and cleaned the EGR Valve thoroughly - I got 62 miles before engine light came on again. I cleaned EGR a second time and got 108 miles but light came back on. I am not too mechanically inclined so should I clean the EGR a third time or call a friend to have more of the system torn apart and cleaned.

dont bother cleaning the actual valve again. Its usually the ports that get clogged up. I believe theyre easier to clean if you have the 3.0 but the 2.3 seems a little more challenging. Either way the ports can usually be cleaned out with a drill bit and a good carb cleaner.

I just got a 1998 cl 3.0 with check engine light on,the guy I got it from said he had it checked and was told he needed to replace both 02 sensors and clean the egr,but I'm wonderin if the car runs so good and doesn't run hot (yet) could there be other problems? all help welcome

I've been having the same problem. CEL is on. I've cleaned the ports and the EGR valve. I've even replaced the valve. CEL will not turn off. Could it be the catalytic converter or O2 sensors? How can I find out?

You have to have the ECU scanned for codes. See what the codes are, and then do a search for the procedure on how to fix the problem that's throwing the CEL.

I fixed my p0401 (Insufficient EGR flow) when i first got my cl and its been almost a year and haven't had any problems with it since on this issue. I did have to do it twice because the first time I was talking on the phone and I did clean the IM good but forgot to clean the engine side of the hole. So I just took everything back apart and did the engine side the same day and everything has worked great since then
