Exclamation CEL on and Radio going on and off. Car Dies. HELP!

Hey everyone! I have an acura 98 2.3 CL. Lately for the past few months, my car has been acting up. The Check engine light has been on for a while and i brought it to a shop and they said my catalytic converter cracked and i needed to replace it. But a month later, my CEL is still on but now my radio is randomly going on and off every 30 seconds or so and my mph/ speed gauge has been acting crazy and its dropping to 0 and back up to my speed that i am driving the same time as my radio going off. Also the check engine light looks weak and dim when that happens. After i turn my car off, sometimes my CD comes ejects out and the radio ask for my code again. There were a few times that happens and I try turning on my car again and theres no response like the battery had died... anyone know whats going on? Ive been trying to find out for a long time but I finally decided to ask anyone that knows.

besides that, how much is catalytic converter cost? I went to the shop and they said to change it, its about 1000 bucks... i think theyre trying to rip me off...

cool, thanks for the idea. Would this CEL have anything to do with why the car has been acting up with all these problems lately? i went to a shop and they told me it was because of the broken cat i have...:\

whats going on with your car is kinda what happened with mine but it was after i had the cat replaced. the meineke i had it done at didnt put the wire harness for the o2 sensor off of the manifold and it burnt through and caused many problems. but it could be something else.

but the problem is that i didnt replace the cat yet. But the shop said that my cat is broken or cracked or something? so whenever my car is on, theres "clunk clunk" sound everywhere all the time. iono if thats what u had? and how much was it to replace your cat?

Check the 02 sensor wiring, then if that is cool i would go and get the alternator checked out. if all your lights are dimming, it is a sure signe it is going.

yea..i dont know where these things are located at. the only way for me to find out is the bring my car to a shop. its just the person said it can be many reasons...the external light doesnt seem to dim. but the internal like such as my dash board CEL and my light on the roof seems to dim. i dont know whats wrong. Could it be the cat thats affecting these?
