1998 Acura 3.0 CL V6 VTec Problems
1998 Acura 3.0 CL V6 VTec Problems
This car is one of the best cars I have ever owned.
The problem just started last weekend.
It is bogging out on me when taking off, it sounds like it wants to die.
I got it scanned at Auto Zone and they pulled up my EGR valve code and my IAC valve code.
I took off the EGR Valve and it was bad...So bad it was stuck so i went ahead and replaced it.
I also took off the IAC and cleaned it out really well. There was a lot of gunk in it.
I then started my car and the problem was still there.
Took it back to Auto Zone, scanned it again and it is now pulling up the EGR Valve code and a MAP Sensor code.
The IAC is not there anymore.......
My Question is, What else should i do?
Go ahead and replace the MAP Sensor?

If the V6 EGR system is anything like the 4 cylinders, the valve itself is only part if the problem. The ports also clog and need to be cleaned.
I had the same issue as you. Changed the EGR valve, CEL stayed on. Looked at the EGR ports, they were completely clogged up. I cleaned those out with a metal pick. Bolted it back up and everything was good as new. I actually should have cleaned the ports first. The valve itself might have been perfectly fine all along.
EDIT:
This is the DIY I followed. It might be helpful for you although I believe there is a separate DIY specifically for the V6.

as you can probably tell from my nick that I have had the P0401 "EGR insufficient flow" problem also. here is a DIY for the 3.0 https://acurazine.com/forums/2g-tl-1999-2003-98/diy-thermoblok-spacers-install-egr-cleaning-615644/ just don't worry about the spacer part. This is a super easy fix but is a real problem with these EGR's on these cars. Not hard to fix but still a headache having to see that CEL on all the time until you get it fixed
I appreciate the tips guys/gales.....
I will definetly try out cleaning the ports...
My Bro is a machanic and he said the problem is my Cat Convertor...
Do you think that is the cause of my problem?
Please respond...
I would hate to replace parts and waste lots money that i dont have....

mine didn't bog down when my CEL was on for the EGR insufficient flow so not sure that will fix the bogging down problem or not. it could be something as simple as a burnt wire thats arcing off the engine somewhere or a bad plug. You can open the hood at night with the car running and see if you see any spark arcing under there to see if its a burnt wire or something because sometimes its hard to see during the day
