Call a local shop, explain to them the problem and ask if they can give you an
estimate?

So what's the story?

So what's the story with CL regulators. I've gone thru 2 already. I find replacement parts on eBay, and a local window place (Speedy Glass) put it in for me for $50 (twice). He said that the plastic parts give up and the only thing you can really do is lubricate the channels with silicone.

The only solution to this obvious problem is "live with it"?
