ok...Tonight I'm driving down the street and hit the gas and all the sudden my rpms fly up to like 6k and no acceleration. Then like im going 20mph and im like redlining. Its like im in neutral when im in drive. The rpms go up like crazy and I barely move anywhere. Then when I stop my car and hit the gas it barely moves and rpms fly up. Then my car pretty much stopped in the middle of the street, then i turned it off, then turned it back on and it moved like 10mph w/ rpms at like 3.5k. And i hear all these weird noises. Just brought it home, barely got home...It pretty much seems like its not connecting, and sometimes when you hit gas all you get is a rev and no acceleration at all...Tommorow im either bringing to local shop or bringing to dealership. I'm glad the mechanic told me (when my CHECK ENGINE LIGHT was on) that my car was alright and he reset it and told me to come back when it comes back on. Anyone know what this is? And also tonight my window broke! Like when i hit the button I hear the motor work, makes come weird cracking noise and my window doesn't move. Tonight is not a good night. Right now my CL is out front with a towel over the window because its only 1/2 shut. If anyone knows what this problem w/ the transmission please lemme know, or the windows. Also anyone know a good shop to bring to in the Ft. Lauderdale area? Should I just bring right to dealership? Thankz

your first gear is out...sounds kinda wierd...ive always had second gear go out before 1st....but exact same theing happened to my last automatic....sorry bud, looks like youre out about 2 grand on the tranny....

About a year ago my cl would rev up to 6k when at idle and jump from 3k to 6k when at park. If I took my foot off the gas the car would do an easy 20mph going up a hill. I took it into the dealer and it was some sort of electronic rev regulator on the v6 engines that was covered under the emissions warranty. Get it checked out it might be a free fix.
Right now my car is sitting at a local shop...

It's an AUTOMATIC. DrDre thanks for your input i never said you were stupid ;-) I just want to see if any one else had any other opinions...
Same exact thing happened to my 3.0 a few months back - ended up having to get a whole new (used) transmission. The tranny would feel like it was slipping and would catch here and there, but would eventually not move at all until I shut it off and let it cool down, but it kept getting worse and worse. If you're close to a dealer or are still under warranty or something have them take a look to see if gjr2001 is right before you shell out $$$ on your tranny.

i feel you guys, 3.0 tranny sucks really bad, i changed mine twice already and hopefully this one will stick, my window broke aswell like that, it was the motor that broke, it sounded like like someone threw a rock at my car or something. it cost me like $200 to get a new one at the dealer. Tranny's suck man, good luck, my second one went out on 1st. be safe dogs!!

Thank you for saying that... :-) Well today I called the shop and he says first he needs to replace my whole computer this guy is gonna put a rebuilt one in because mine is messed up this is gonna cost like 600.00 is this b/s? He said my computer is all missed up

BSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBSBS.....(deep breath)......BSBSBSBSBSBSBS.......anyways...how the hell does a damn mechanic know if your computer is messin up by talking to you on the phone, unless he has worked on 10,000 CL's before....and secondly, any mechanic with more than 2 brain cells would recommend changing the tranny fluid before doing anything else. And exactly what is the definition of a "re-built" computer in a car?....all it is, is like a board with chips and crap, hell buy a new one if its really your tranny computer.
Alright, got my car back today driving perfect...They put a new transmission computer in my car. After i leave the shop I go to meet my friend to eat about 25 min later i have to tow it back because it did the same slipping gears and revving no moving almost killing me on the street kinda thing. So I bring it back and they told me my computer keeps shortening out. Today I find out i need a whole new transmission...Its gonna cost around 1,600 to get a rebuild. Is that a decent price? I was wondering if my warranty is going to cover this (i have 2 yr full aftermarket warranty) even though i have aftermarket springs and shocks? Do they really check? I have warrantech bought it at the used car place. Also I have only 58k miles isnt that kinda odd to blow transmission soo early? And is there anything i could have done to make this happen? My mom is blaming me for everything!!! In the future is there anything i can do to make sure my transmission stays fine like driving wise? and my parents think my transmission is fucked cause my car is soo dropped!?!?

your lowered car wont have any effect on a powertrain warranty unless the shop loos under neath and can see horrible damage done to the tranny housing b/c your car is REALLY low, i.e. like 2 inches off the ground where you might slam the tranny housing on speed bumps or something.....buy a transmission cooler, a really GOOD one. I went all out and spent 160 bucks including labor for a 14,000 GVWR cooler. It supports even SUVs that tow horse trailers.
Maybe you can look into a junkyard and pick up a used tranny and send it off to level 10 or another tranny rebuilding place so you can drop in a bullet-proof tranny in the future

Your warranty should cover everything - exactly as Dre said. $1600 isn't bad for a rebuilt tranny, but I was quoted $1400 - once they pulled it apart that estimate went up to $2500 (if the warranty doesn't work out for whatever reason). Originally posted by r0dxx

58K miles is low, but mine went out at 75K and I don't even push her too hard. Same story around the board too. Our trannies are useless. Acura North America, are you reading this???

Whatever you do, do not send it to level 10, they are crooks.
But if you want to fork out the cash send it to a tranny shop, art carr out here does great work, I don't know what is really available for replacement in our trannys. But he's done some tranny's for chevy's for me, but aftermarket parts for those are abundant, such as kevlar bands, etc.
But also remember, there is really no bullitproof tranny, they can all bite the dust.

Yaaaay! Today my mechanic told me that my warranty company didnt even come look at the transmission and they are paying 1500 all i have to pay is 100.00 ! This is good...Car should be back by friday. With a rebuilt transmission...Is rebuilt as good as new? And what should i do in the future to make sure no more tranny problems
