is it the starter?

Make sure your battery connections are good and that battery is charged.
If battery and connections are good, the cause is most likely worn starter solenoid contacts. They wear at each start due to electrical arcing. Fix is to either replace starter or replace the solenoid contacts inside the solenoid (starter removal required).
If you want to repair the solenoid, try Sherco Auto Supply for contacts. They have a website and online catalog. You will need the old contacts to be sure you order correct contacts.
good luck

ok so: I took the battery cover off and found that the positive plug was corroded, so I cleaned it off and put some de corossive crap on it. Then my dad tried jumping it and it still didnt start. So i went inside and went back out and tried it again a few times and still nothing. Came back out, tried it once but nothing, then I just left the key in for like 30 seconds cause I was paying with my hu, and I tried it again and it started. I have no idea why? I took the key out and kept starting it and it worked fine...

look in the yellow pages, I was able to find a place to rebuild mine for cheaper than buying a new on and they painted it black too at no charge

It's def the starter, just had mine replaced with a brand new one for $200. If it clicks it's def the starter, you can get it to start, just try crankin it like 4-5 times, it'll start. My alternator guy showed me that, you have a bad spot in the starter, crank it 4-5 times it'll start. Def the starter though

It's definitely the starter unit, replace it, it will suck @$$ when you're stuck far away from home/help...it happened to me once, I was going south to san diego and after stopping to expunge...it didn't start and i had to pay $400+ for towing back to OC and replacing the unit...
moral: Fix it and fix it now...
