Staggard rims Question...
Staggard rims Question...
So it would make sense for us FWD cars to put the wider rim in front correct because we'll have more traction? Even though it'll look weird a bit... it would serve us more purpose than just looks. Something I've been wondering.... so add your 2 cents please!
on the autocross track i see civics n srt's with wider front wheels, but thats on the track only. I think staggered for wider rear looks sexy, even if it isnt funtional on a fwd car

I thought about it. But then I was convinced with R compound tires, that my rear tires would warm up faster than the front tires hence causing more understeer. So I stuck with the same width all around at 8 inches with 245's.
yeah I agree that the staggered setup is of course 'less than optimal' for our fwd application...and for us people that dont push our cars hard enough to even notice the effects of 'oversteer/understeer', the main concern is tire rotation (especially since I don't like having bigger lipped rims up front). Gotta pay to play though.
I would have totally opted to get an 8.5 inch setup all the way around, but unforunately, for the real nice 'vip' style rims, the majority were manufactured in staggered setups for our bolt patterns. Of course they're going to be manufactured in those rwd configurations too, because that's typically where the money is at (240's, big body ls400's, etc). Finding the perfect set of rims that were forged and 3 piece and came with the lip/offsets that I want was nearly impossible without going to an old school jdm rim with a staggered config.
I don't drive my car frequently/hard enough to even notice the negative effects...so I could care less...my main thing is paying money to have the tires taken off/rotated. But such is the life of a hardparker.....I mean jeez...look at the freakin CL on the banner at the top of the page

Said this before, Staggered wheels only make sense on RWD muscle cars, to get traction. Big tire in the rear, smaller tires in the front, otherwise, convert your CL to a RWD THEN stagger
