Hi I got a 97' 2.2 CL, not the quickest of cars but i still like it, question i have is: what could i do short of an engine swap and anything else really invasive that would make this car a bit more competitive? I have some friends that need to shut up.

 

typical bolt ons. header/intake/exahaust (if you like) ground kit/ underdrive pulley/fuel rail/ theres alot more!

 

what kind of improvements in horsepower would stuff like this achieve?

 

nothing really, those mods arent really worth it imo

 

 

Nitrous, cold plugs, and race gas. Depending on what they drive, you could shut them up with that. If you buy the kit used, you can do all of this for under $400.

 

if you're just trying to smoke a few friends, go for a nitrous setup. No need to get fancy if you only want the occasional burst of speed.

 

^^ true.. but its up to you. if you want speed or a fancy engine bay (both achieved with nos or bolt ons)
