iPod TuneFM for Car
Hey guys whats going on..I just got a 98 Acura 2.3 CL and it has a cd player...I have all my music on my iPod and making and changing a cd everytime I want to hear something is getting annoying...I went to go see how much the ipod integration was at Best Buy and the dude told me $150+tax and thats with installation...I was wondering has any of you guys used a Belkin TuneFM iPod kit...?...My cousin said his friend has 1 and it sounds good...So I just wanted you guys opinions on that..Its only $50 and don't really want to spend $150 for the other 1..Post up...Thanks

unfortunately the only good way to integrate your ipod into our cars is to get an aftermarket deck and an ipod adapter for it. fm tuners, cassete adapters are subpar in quality, i've used one in my dads outback, the sound is if your doing something, do it right the first time

FM transmitters are total crap. Although I am somewhat of an audiophile and so I'm a little more anal about sound than some. Something along these lines would be best if you plan on keeping the factory cd player/radio in your CL

It's the same type they have at Best Buy, but don't pay them $50 to install it. Do it yourself. It only takes a few minutes and it saves you $50.

I dropped $100 at betsbuy for the one that plugs into the lighter outlet and charges it at the same time...its nice out on coun try roads or non-busy areas, otherwise the static just becomes a real nuissance...always trying to find a "dead" channel doesnt help when in Boston, they have stations for everything...but i took it up to Vermont and maine and it was literally CD quality with no interference...its hit or miss in some areas...driving down to Tennesse for Bonnaroo i didnt have to change a station once i hit Connecticut, that was clutch.

its kinda weird when you think about it. It costs more to keep your stock headunit rather than getting something after market with an adapter. You can go with a really cheap headunit then buy a male/male jack that goes into your ipod. Or the other route would be to find a headunit that has an aux option for a cd changer. Then you would get the compatible cord for that which will give you aux inputs. Then you can simply connect a Y rca cable. then you're good to go!

first off... DO NOT buy a Sony head unit, or any other Sony car stereo product. Sony has it together when it comes to tv's and plenty of other home electronics, but their car audio is garbage..
i've always been partial to Pioneer/Premier head units. i'm going to get the AVIC-D3 for my CL, but that's probably a lot more than you're after. look on crutchfield, you'll find something to your liking. but then go buy it on ebay and save like 30%.

pioneer head units let you control the song via the ipod itself? that's actually really cool. in my last car i had a Clarion, and you could only control it through the head unit, which sucked

I think the only way you can control it from the iPod is with an AUX connection.
On another note, I don't mean to hijack the thread but does anyone know if this dash kit fits our cars? It's made for the 98-02 Accord so I'm assuming so, but I just wanted to make sure before I forked out the $ for it.

And does anyone know if these Scosche kits are much better than the free ones that Crutchfield gives?
