Rust

I just noticed around my left headlight theres a tiny strip of rust, maybe half an inch by 4mm's wide just on the tip of the car, should i get this taken care of or will this spread rapidly??

Yeah, I gots the same problem on my right wheel well. I already had the rust on my other side fixed because it was bubbling throught the paint. I paid $400 cash to have the shop cut out the peice and weld in a new one and repaint the whole panel and coat the back again. That side is now spotless but on removing the rubber lining on the other side I found more rust there....damn canadian salt winters. still waiting on what to do.....was thinking of sanding and painiting myself since it is on the under side of the wheel well where you can't really see.

Anyone else dealt with this.........the 97s is getting old.....turning 10 in a year.

Peace.

$400 or DIY, whatever you do, Musashi say: "waiting is bad" -- especially on a sharp clean blackie like that, nice ride

grind it away to clean metal and use an epoxy primer to seal the metal

the reason why cars rust like a year after paint is becuase of shitty prep....epoxy primer isn't cheap....all these ghetto ass shops do is grind the metal on your car, have it sit in the shop a few days with bare metal....it starts to rust again, and they just shoot filler primer, sand and base/ clear

My 97 3.0 has rust developing on the ps a piller next to the windshield. It has always been garaged and never seen snow as I live in Southern California.

I took it to a body shop and they want 500.00 to remove the windshield, repair the rust, replace the apparently defective window seal and replace the windshield. Does this sound reasonable?

Why the hell did it rust? grrrrr.
