So after driving on packed in snow a couple of weeks ago after a big snow storm, my steering wheel now shakes pretty hard even at low speeds. it seems to calm down a bit around ~45 mph. This has become really annoying and it also seems the car pulls slightly to the left.(before this incident the wheel would only shake when i hit about 80 mph on the freeway) Could my alignment have gotten messed up? or any other ideas? Thankss

I would get that checked out asap. I had a similar issue once and it turned out my wheel was about to fall off. Don't mess around with that kind of stuff.

snow in your wheels, clean them out thoroughly at a carwash or something.
i had this issue on my subie a little while ago, it was horrible, at 80kmph (about 45 mph) the wheels were so unbalanced that the car was bouncing like a tractor. But i had a lot of it, the calipers would scrape/compact the snow so it was almost like ice when i finally got it out

Update: had the tires checked out today. According to the shop its a broken/shifted belt in the tire. They moved the wheels to the back, so I wouldnt feel the vibration in the front. I plan to deal with it for a while until I can afford a new set of tires. Kills me to replace 2 tires with decent tread.

why not just look for a used tire.
that's what i did when i needed to replace one on my caddy and i was broke.
cost me 80 for a decent 17inch tire, where as brand new that size would've cost me 240 each. Just try and find a close match in tread pattern and wear

anyone currently looking for JDM wheels?
Just wondering as this guy i know just got a bunch in straight from japan. Mostly staggered VIP styles, Weds, Works (vs-xx, and others), Stitchs.
Only seeing if anyone is seriously looking to get some wheels, with cash ready.
I'm pretty sure it's the same guy that aqua bought his veilsides from for a great deal.
I saw quite a few with sizes that would work with the cl, so i thought i'd try and help out my AZine brothers.
lmk asap...

Do you have any sample pics of the wheels? I'm interested in something new for my car.

I had the same problem on my 99, code p0420, had it replaced at a shop with an aftermarket direct bolt on replacement and the code kept coming back. From my experience these cars are very sensitive at detecting emissions, my new converter worked fine, but apparently not up to the cars oem specs.

I've been hearing a loud skweaky sound from my front passenger side and can't seem to pin point it. I just had the axles replaced a few weeks ago, and was told that the breaks were ok so I don't think its that. It also happens sometimes when I go into reverse. Whenever I step on the breaks, the sound usually stops. I also don't think its a bearing, since that was done last year.

i think your pads are shot. theres a small needle in the pad thats probably grinding on the rotor, thats whats making the grinding noise. get the pads replaced and you should be fine

I'd go with this. If not, then check for stuck calipers.

its your brake pads. theres a warning tab on some that can make that noise to let you know that your pads are near needing to be changed. i had the same thing. if you look at the pad, you can see the small metal tab that makes the noise once they are worn down to a certain point

If it is more of a screeching noise, like the sound of metal on metal, it is probably your brake pads. But when you say squeak, I think more of a rubber sound. Also, you said you had the brakes checked recently and they were fine?

Its weird, I hear a screeching sound when I go into reverse (not touching the brakes) and a squeaking sound when I'm just driving. When driving, the sound goes away when I tap the brakes.....so it certainly could be a locked caliper or pads, but I'm not sure. And again, its only coming from the front passenger side

From that description, it sounds like a caliper. I had the driver's rear caliper seize on me. That was a fun repair. I'd get the brakes checked out asap.

So I just popped in all my new LEDs I got in the mail today. I got license plate, top/bottom corners, turn signal, and back up ones.

Only problem Is that I can't figure out how to throw the resistor into the wire mesh in the turn signals. Where does the splice tap go and connect to? Website I ordered from had some pretty shady install instructions, and said that I did not have to cut my cables. Ima try again tomorrow in daylight, if anybody knows how or what I'm talkin bout, lemme know, thanks.

^ Forget that. I figured it out cuz im a boss. lol. Went through the taillight to get to cables. Also found out the splice tap opens even more to get the cable inside of it. I thought i had to take the cable out of its socket at first. Rofl. im dumb. My turn signals are beast now

These taps. I looked at turn signal wire colors and matched the two (ground and signal) to the little box thing with cables in it. Then wrapped the taps around cables with resistor end attached to it and sealed em up.

Then here's what it looks like in full. I ghetto rigged the resistor. Taped it's black cables to metal with electrical tape. Blackack said the resistors get hot, so I didn't want em touching the foam, carpet, or other cables.

Let's say I want to hook up fog lights to the 98-99 fog light switch.
I have a 97 with the console conversion, so I don't think I have any of the fog light wiring.
If I buy a fog light wiring kit off ebay or where ever, could I cut off the switch included in the kit, and just connect the + and - wires to the back of the fog switch?
I haven't taken a look at the back of it, but I'm assuming connecting the wires like that would work.
Is there a reason that wouldn't work?

no, but I have random happy news for my car. It seems the government is handing out huge tax credits this year and my poor CL will be the first beneficiary.

So to sum up this month she'll be getting at the very least, some new rubber, new bushings, timing belt, axles, radiator and maybe get my drivers door repainted (keyed by random idiot). I'm so freaking happy, last week it seemed she was going to die from a lack of funding. than pay off damn near all my debt, and set aside money.

thank you uncle sam

Welp, I just ordered fogs.. so I guess I may find out soon enough. It would be nice if anyone had some knowledge about this though.

What I've gathered from old threads is that the 97s are not wired for fogs. I think I would need another + connection if I want the button light to illuminate, but I really don't care about that. I just want to be able to use the factory switch instead of the cheesy button that comes with it.
