you should not have a governor that low

do you have a check engine light on?

i would get your EGR vavle checked to see if its a air flow problem, its free and no charge covered under the extended warrenty by acura for 97-99 CL up to 150k miles

what does it exactly do? i mean how much dramatically? a couple MPH, 10 mph, more?

need more info

well like white 3.0 cl around 100-110 mph ... it stops accelerating as fast as it was before... it just go up slowly until the fastest i ever got was 135.... but from 0 to that point... it has no problem.. this just pissed me off cuz i'd race and beat other cars.... but after that they just catch up...

u travel over 100 a lot? that ain't good n i dont think it is a problem... just under utilization of the productivity of the combustion.

EDIT: forced induction and a larger exhaust piping.

uh yea and lowering it and better tires would be smart...

a blowout at that speed is not good.

Without a shot, the 3.0 i have with the current intake I have, with stock exhaust will push me all day at 119 mph @6100 rpm in D3!! hold in D3 and ride out the gear .......... D4 is the problem gear,
our car gets slugo afer 120 ,125 I'm sure if you mod right, you see the return .

i was refering to the rather high floaty stock suspension, and the generally lacking handling / breaking abilities.

Are you serious? Haven't you ever wanted to see what your car is capable of? I mean going 130 for 30 seconds is not gonna hurt your car unless there was already something wrong with it. and as far as pigs go, when your on a rural, straight, flat and open highway in indiana, there's no cops within 10 miles so theres no risk

i agree that going 130 in a car that was designed to wouldnt be a problem, but the cl is lacking in a few departments? whats the speed rating on your tires?

vietxplicitz what model do you have (2.2, 2.3, or 3.0) ? If you have a 2.2
or 2.3 might be the reason why. Those two models have less horepower
and are four cylinders that struggle at top end. The reason why you are
noticing that you get to 100mph pretty fast is because you are on lower
gears. As soon as you are on fourth going into fifth you start to feel you're
speed depleting. That has to do with you're lack of horsepower. If you
have a 3.0 you should not have that problem. Mines does not!

Umm...are you watching your tach man? On the 3.0s, the stupid tranny will shift into 4th at about 100. Keep it in D3 and, it'll pull just as hard till redline - over 120mph. 4th sucks.

The 3.0s have larger brakes than the 2.x's, and work decent for stopping the CL. They get VERY hot stomping on it from 110 down to half that, but drive around normal for 5 mins and they should be ok. Bigger brakes would def have better bite going fast. They work really well from 60 down, they grab better than the tires can grip the road - my ABS def gets worked.

The stock suspention is ok for me - I really haven't noticed it being floaty at all. The only problem I have is something with the rear - when you hit a bump on a slight turn going pretty fast - feels like axle sway (like on a solid axle rear with leafs - that feeling of the axle going side to side). I can't figure it out - nothing that should be able to even do that except the tires? Weird...

thanx guys... i dunno... maybe after some major mod .. it might change... never went pass 100 with D3... might try that sometime... you sure that ain;t gonna hurt the tranny?

Read the owners manuel, if you have a 3.0 it says you can shift from D3 to D4, what we are say'n is instead of the recommended speed to shift you wait to max the VTEC and the gear out ..
Probably not great for the car but I've been driving my CL this way years and never had problems with the Tranny or break'n 100 in D3...

FranktheTank, I don't think folks from other cities understand completly. A.) We have traffic here that's good for street rice'n B.) Fuck the Cops, I view traffic signs more as a suggestion. C.) We always, I do mean always, have trouble with mini van's in the fast lane, people that won't get over and more Riced out shit box cars than anywhere in the country. Always a challenge to stay at 65..

i dont think its normal. right now i have AEM v2 intake and thats it, but even before i got v2, i had a stock car. year ago i kicked it with one of my friend dat lived 40 min away from me all the time. he would come down to the valley and time to time i would give him ride back home. like almost every other day, at 1am, i would go 125-130 mph all the time. 130 on downhill freeway and 125 constantly on normal ground. something is def wrong with ur car.

It's the fact that it is a 4 speed, if they made a 5sp manual for our cars they would fly. I have stopped driving fast since i bought this car. No point in it, my fiance is getting it beause we are expecting a kid soon and she drives a crapalier, then a 2002 GTI VR6 6speed 4 me, or another GSR

The car does get sluggish for me two, and only when i shift into D4, yes, I live in the Nati, just gave props to C-Bus in a different forum, some trojan fan... They make a 5 speed that does fit our car, I've been really wanting to go manual for years.. i'm sure that single upgrade is best way to open that 4th gear up, it's freak'n LAME!** lot of Cops in C-Bus better be carefull, just stayed at the new Hilton in Easton... Very Nice, no Paris but I scored like 4 free drinks, they really hooked it up !!!!!!!
