nOOb Auto Start Question

I'm looking to add autostart to the stock alarm system. Will this work?

http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/561t.html

with this

http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/bypass-module.html

i'm not trying to get a whole new alarm or remotes. If this doesn't work, what are my options side from a whole new system?

alright, sounds good, but do you have a key for the bypass module. If so, you're in luck. It just piggybacks off your existing system. I would say use your panic button.

Key? I'm very new to this. Like an extra car key?

If you have a 98 or 99 with the imobilizer, you will need a chipped key to install into your alarm, or no worky

im almost sure that what that bypass thing does is let you put the key in a remote location and it will transmit the signal from inside the key to the receiver of the immobilizer so that you dont have to leave the key in the ignition. one way or another the immobilizer needs to have the singal from the key.

This will not work because the main security unit needs to support remote start feature. Stock unit does not support this feature, so answer is negative.

If you have a 98/99, there's a chip in the back part of the key. Which alarm system are you using? DEI has a Bypass Module that bypasses the OEM immobilizer. This should allow you to integrate the remote starter without leaving the key in the ignition. I think the DEI model number was 555I.
Just shoot your alarm manufacturer an email and ask them which device is compatible to bypass the immobilizer.

Yup just use the DEI 555 to bypass the immobilizer. Check with the distributor on the correct bypass model.

I can't remember if there was an extra channel you can use for that particular starter. Maybe you could used your trunk channel instead.

Do you find your remote range satisfactory from where you want to start your car? I remember I installed an extra range remote from DEI and I could start the car from a football field away. It was awesome.

Found this information too.

http://www.autotechs.com/items/item871.htm

looks like you start it by hitting the unlock button on my current remote 2/3 times (programable)

Nakamichi - I have a call into them right now asking these same very questions, but your saying this DEI Valet 561T with the correct bypass module (http://www.caraudio-caralarms.com/bypass-module.html) would work on the factory system? I'm in a condo, so my alarm currently reaches far enough for me. Do you have a link to that extended range remote though?

and by the way, are you up in NoVA?

I never used/installed that model. After looking at the wiring diagram, you might as well just replace the OEM alarm and get a full blown after market alarm. It's not much more wires.

The extended range was a feature of a after market alarm. It has an remote antenna from the alarm "brain" and a 2-way remote. Similar to the following Viper 5900. There was a post a few months back asking if the OEM alarm antenna could have been extended, but not sure what concluded from that.

I cant remember where I saw it, but Im sure I saw an aftermarket remote starter with its own 1 button remote, just for the starter, I cant remember if it came with its own stand-alone antenna, but the dedicated remote might help on its own
