My 1st Mod/Idea

Ok so I have been thinking about this a while and I just decided im going to do it...

I have spent a lot of money on the stereo in my car, and I hate it how my sub, and amp are both so much stronger and louder than that of my friends but theirs still sound louder because my subs are enclosed in my trunk.

I decided to remove my back seat and see what difference it made.

Today I removed the seatback, and I was going to leave the seat bottom on there but I thought about it and there is a thin sheet of metal seperating the trunk from the cab.

There are a few bolts holding it in place, but i looked at all of them and none of them are connected to anything important.
I want to know if you guys think it would be safe for me to unbolt all of these bolts and take this sheet out. I figured Id put the bolts back in and keep the sheet on hand but I didnt want to do it without asking around first. Thanks

I've done it before. With my modded exhuast I couldn't even hear myself think. Not to mention your going to be able to hear all of your gasoline swashing around each time you stop. It really becomes a huge inconvenience, because there always seems to end up being a reason that you have to drive more than 1 person around.

And yeah, it's fine, it's safe if that's what you want to do.

what's your audio set up? you know you could just port the box through the ski-pass... that'd probably be easier than all this work you're doing...

Right now I have a 12" Kicker CVX in a ported Kicker box, going through a 750 kicker amp, but I was going to upgrade in the next few months....

I thought bout that but this would also give me a reason to stop giving rides to everyone

Im just worried that it may not be safe, or may not me able to be reinstalled

Yeah the seats go back in no problem. But when I put that support metal framing back on, I finished leftover screws that wouldn't go in anywhere.

Not to mention it looks like shit, because you can see your suspension, and random wiring, so unless you don't care about interior looks, I suggest you get some matting or something. you can see pictures of mine ripped out in this thread here

i thought that metal plate was for structural rigidity? maybe i'm wrong but i think i heard someone mention that here...
You could also take out that material on the rear deck and replace it with something that will let the sound through better.
but for the functionality, the idea is pretty good, aslong as you clean it up a bit

It is part of the structure rigidity of the car, although not absolutely vital. You may notice a little bit of body flex around corners. Keep in mind, the Accord's rear seat folds completely down, so that area is left wide open. Although, there is still a frame attached to the car around the opening. You (could) perform a folding-rear seat retrofit from an accord. That might be more functional than having no rear seat.

That is a great idea. Do you have anyidea how to do it, or where to get information on how to do it?

hm. it's been a while since i've had that apart on an accord. the ease of doing something like that all depends on how much of the accord body honda actually borrowed. I would find a coupe in a local junkyard and see if you could pick some parts off. There was no black interior on any US 94-97 accords, so I'm not sure what to do about the seat. But, basically, the accord upper seat section is held on by two hinges on the bottom and a latch on the top. if you could take the hinge/lock system, that might do what you want.

All you gotta do is open the ski pass, no need to take out the seat

i agree no need to take the seat out. if you have to you could turn the ski pass into a port and it would look nicer and be just as loud as it would have been if you pulled out the seat. which btw its not much louder. if your really considering pulling out the back seat why not just throw the box on the back seat? youd still have a trunk

doesn't blind have like 4 woofers in a huge ported box that takes up almost his entire trunk and is ported through a huge rectangular hole cut in his rear deck. I'm pretty sure his must be crazy loud.
I thought you only had 2 12's in a box or something chris, correct me if i am wrong tho. how much RMS?

and to the OP: what are your plans with the fabric and stuff? are you still gonna have a huge hole looking into the trunk where thieves/anybody can see you have a sub and amp sitting in the trunk. Just trying to think of things you may have already or not, don't take any offence to it, just trying to help you out so you don't get jacked

Quality over quantity, you don't need 4 subs when 2 will suffice, atm I'm only pushing 1500 watts, but planning to go up to 2-3000 some where down the line, but 1500 watts is no joke when it's just bass. Not saying my stuff is as loud as blind's either

And IMO taking your seat out is just silly when you can open the ski pass and get the same result

ski pass is what i always wanted to do but i needed a port MUCH larger than what i got out of the ski pass
loud is pretty easy up until you really want to thump (150db's and up). yea i dont have a trunk anymore... btw i like my 4 KICKERS

oh and OP please do a cool blowthrough with the ski pass they look hella cool. did one for my friends accord with 2 mmats 12"s and it looked cool and was easy and cheap to do

IMO taking the back seat out is ghetto and alot work for not much bass either,
i could see taking the rear out if you were gunna have a wall built or something, but for one 12 and 750 watts??? your not gunna be winning any bass competitions or anything with that setup even with your seat out

Worrrrd. I'm much more into sound quality than pressure, so I went with an Alpine Type-X and MRD-M1005, and it's plenty loud enough while maintaining great sound. That's the thing I've always had against Kicker, imo they sound like a really loud fart. Anyway, I'm getting completely out of stereo now, just not my bag; but do what the others are saying, it's a huge
