MBQuart in 3.0CL

Has anyone done it? Which models? What else I would need?

I was thinking about getting Alpine head unit. Which one?

Would I need Amplifier?

A in CircuitCity said that my speakers, each has its own amp.

If you have the money the QM-218's quarts may be the best component set ever made, I'm pretty sure they would fit in our factory locations with no problem.
Check out this website they sell a lot of MB quart stuff

Let me know what you end up buying, I also want to get new components.

Don't wanna spend that much. I saw 6x9 $150 and 6.5" $120. Take a look here.

I put a pair of MB Quart DTC 169 (3-way 6x9's) in the rear (98 3.0). Screws don't fit perfectly, but you can easily get them to work. They sound a lot better, to the point where the rear sounds cleaner than the front. Bose system is a sham. They are definately craving more power, so I'm gonna run a Nakamichi amp to them this weekend, and adding a sub. Plan on eventually replacing the components and the HU once I can spare the money. Problem with the Honda/Acura cars are the plastic mounts for the door speakers. Too shallow, and don't fit a lot of the aftermarket 6.25" and oversize drivers (Including MB Quarts). Have to build custom mounts or get an installer to do them. Another problem might be running the wires through the door... and running the wire to the stock tweeter locations from the crossover. That's why I'm waiting to do the components when I put in a new HU.. so that I can hopefully get everything done over a weekend. Can drill holes and mount the tweeters on the door panels, but I don't know if you want to do that.. and you still have to run the speaker wire from the amp through the door. Anybody replace the components in their stock locations and run the wires themselves? Any insight?

Yeah I got boston componets up front and I did kind of a shitty job running the wire. I just fed it into the car near the speaker grille. You can see some wire sticking out when you open the door. I need to redo, but so far it has worked out fine. People that ride in my car never even notice. I was thinking about getting some of those Q-forms for our car. Anyone else have em?

Yeah it is a huge pain in the ___. I tried to run the wires through the doors. The problem I came across was that there is a connection for the wire harness in the door, so you would have to put a new hole in the door just to get the wire through. So I ended up just leaving it there. I imagine it would cost a lot to get this done because the connector its self is set into the door and is not easy to get out. As for putting the 6.5 in the door, I had to make a spacer and then cut away a little bit of plastic behind the grill. Nothing to serious, took a while though. The only problem is they shake the door like crazy when the crossover from my headunit is not on. If you get a 6.5 with a lot of excursion this is something to keep in mind, it rattles a LOT.

Oh yeah, I mounted the tweeters sticking out of the map pocket in the door. They fit right into the bend in the pocket. It looks real good, but I wish they were farther forward. I would also recommend getting an amp for the components, makes a big difference.

I have MB QUARTS in my doors and they sound good. But if your not into spending a lot of money but still want sound quailty they I would suggest Pioneer or JVC. As for head unit Alpine has good sound quailty but the display is hard to read in daylight. I have a pioneer DEH7300 and I love it. Awesome sound great features. Also look into Clarion, Ecplise, and JVC. Heres a pic of my pioneer.

Do you guys think Boston Pro or MB Quarts are better for interior. I was going to get Boston Pro comps. (6.5) for the front, and a cheaper set for the back.

The 6.5 comps cost 450. They are a lot more then the Quartz, i heard quartz was better?
