Just my luck...

My CL has been pissing me off so much lately. I hit a car on campus last week (my own fault, but CL turning radius = ), I've had brakes problems, can't install my fog lights, and now I need a new fuel gauge.

I needed new front pads, so I picked some ceramic ones up. Should be easy right? No. First, my dad who was helping me was in a hurry and took off the wrong bolt - brakes fluid pours out. Got everything back in place, put the new pads on, pushed the cylinder back in to place and got brake fluid EVERYWHERE again. The other side doesn't do this, but now there's air in the line and I can't drive the rest of the night because I'm out of light in order to see to bleed the brakes.

Next day, fogs. Despite being smaller than stock fogs, these fogs don't mount up well, and I need to drill yet another hole on the passenger side in order to get the lights lined up and even on both sides.

Fuel gauge. I decided to get some Autotechnic S7 gauges. Did my search like a good boy and figured out how to take apart the instrument cluster. I didn't know the following: The clear plastic is glued to the black housing, which means I cracked the bottom of the cover. Looks terrible. So now, I try to slip on the gauges, but guess what? They don't fit! The center hole is too small to fit because the needle extends too far over. In the process, I break the needle off of the fuel gauge.

It's been a wonderful few days. /rant

I have the red needles... and it broke off from the inside. There's a small metal piece that fits in to a small rubber hole. It broke from inside there.

yeah......i tested with my temp gauge when attemping white face gauges, i broke my temp needle since it was least important to me. but you'll need the whole backing. since you cracked the glass i would just buy a whole cluster and take the fuel needle and glass and switch it with your current cluster. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/98-99...QQcmdZViewItem

Yeah, I may do that instead of trying to get a new fuel gauge from the dealer. And I'm not going to bother with the S7's, what a waste of money. I guess I'll go with a blue LED swap and call it a day.

Pics of the carnage:

Inside of fuel guage

Broken Needle:

Was able to get the speedometer and tach after slightly trimming the S7 overlay:

WHY IS THE DAMN THING STILL PINK?!?!

Still debating whether or not to put these in. They look nice, but I'm not feeling the pink (the other ones don't look like that?) and this just isn't worth the trouble.

Does anyone else have these? I bought them for a 96 Accord... that should work. They line up just fine they just don't fit over the needle properly

If I'll keep them I'll do a write up. I just don't think I can look at a pink speedometer and tach everyday. I swear I got the wrong ones or something, but I can't send them back because they're damaged now.

Yep, definitely didn't get that as part of the package. What did you do to get the gauge completely on? There's just no way that these can fit because of how the needle extends past the black circle it sits on.

I hear ya on the turning radius. It's terrible, I've been cutting it close many times.

Gotta love it though. Once you get all the stuff with your car straightened out, you'll be happy. Trust me.

i slipped the needle through the hole then let the lip of the center hole catch right underneath the needle (and kinda bent the gauges a little and pulled it over to have enough space to slip the rest of the needle through just take ur time and youll get it, gentle movements lol no erratic movements or theres a chance youll break a needle again

oh and when the guages light up the pink part lights up blue so atleast ur gauges wont look like some sort of gay rainbow lol

Yeah, but I can't drive around like that in the day time... I just don't think I can keep them on there. What a waste of money though... that's the reason I haven't taken them off the speedometer and tach yet.
