So I seafoamed! There was ALOT more smoke then I thought... It was alot more grey in color than the vids I've seen too.. I first started revving it and was like, wow, that's alot of smoke. Then I put it in drive and floored it up the hill and DDAAAMMMNNNNN!!!! I felt like I hit the smoke screen like in Death Race or something... BUT the hilarious thing is that one of my neighbors was walking out of the front door, I flew by, I look in the rear veiw mirror throught the thick smoke, she was submerged in the smoke and see her run back in the house!
Performance wise, I could deff feel it pull harder. Fresh oil change tomorrow!

Already did. 1/3 in gas, 1/3 in oil, 1/3 vaccum line all at the same time. Let it sit for 10 minutes then started the fun. Thanks for the help guys! :gheyhug:

any noticeable differences? i bought a can today after reading this thread and reading up about seafoam. they had it at a local pepboys for $10. worth a shot i guess. i've seen some mixed reviews. a lot of ppl were saying not to put it in the crankcase cuz it may leak afterwards if the sludge/dirt was what was keeping the leaks from happening.

main reason i want to try it is because my idle is all crazy nowadays. it drops really low when i'm sitting in drive at a light and if i'm in park and rev it at all, once i let off the gas it will drop off lower than where it started and then go back to normal idle rpm after a bit.

i'm going to try half in my gas tank and half through the vacuum line. just scared of all the smoke and scaring my neighbors. cops are assholes in my town, i'll probably get pulled over when i'm driving it out

The car deff pulls harder and idles smoother with the A/C on. I still run mid 7 second 0-60 runs though. It's more about smoothness. Oh, I did also have a problem before starting my car. It sometimes wouldn't start the first time I would turn the key which was probably because of clogged fuel injectors (I would ALWAYS run the car on fumes...) but so far, It's always started right up and like I said, smoother idle.

The tube to the right of the 'T' connector. The one that runs toward the engine.. haha.

hmmm... i've been wanting to try this too, but when i researched it there were quite a few people saying it's harmfull for the engine.
I want my cl to run a little smoother, but i don't want to risk it, as it's getting pretty high in mileage (near the equivalent of 180k miles.) hmm decisions...decisions..

As long as you do it right and get an oil change afterward then you should be fine.

I bought a gallon of seafoam last year and have been using that. I need to seafoam again cause my idle sometimes gets fucked up and I want to see if this will help but it probably won't.

this is exactly what i'm looking for, smoother idle.. especially with A/C on. i run on fumes pretty often too, just don't like making a trip to the gas station when it's not on the way to where i need to be going. i'm not expecting it to make the car any faster, just run smoother. thanks!

i was reading the older posts too, i don't really feel comfortable just taking tubes off the back of the engine without knowing exactly which one it is. any pictures? or anyone mind taking any pics on a 3.0?

Did mine a few minutes ago (2.2) definitely idles much smoother. Now it's up on jack stands draining the oil, I put some in the crank too.

So.... talk about getting the shit scared out of you. Prior to my seafoam today, I went a bit over my oil change interval (1500mi over). I finish the seafoam no problem and move onto the oil. I finish the oil and back the car out etc. Now, as I was cleaning up I got the living hell scared out of me.

I found this in the bottom of my oil drain pan (aka: litter box)

So after about 45 mins of freaking out and starting the car to listen for noises... I decided to cut the oil filter to shreds to look for metal. Ripped it completely apart with all of the filter media out... nothing, not a spec. At this point I am completely puzzled. So I looked to my left and lo and behold, there is my normal oil drain litter box nice and clean and it finally clicked. I never fully cleaned all the metal shavings out of this pan after I did the trans swap in the accord Just figured I would share my scary brainfart of the day.

I AGREE!!
i did this on a old 92 4 banger mustang i had and 3 days later i was at advanced auto parts ordering a new crate engine for it.
My mechanic said that it was because my engine had such high miles and the gunk buildup was keeping my piston rings sealed up nice and tight.

This seams like something you would do on a new car every 6k or 75 hundred miles not something with 180k miles or whatever. but its cool nobody has had any problems with it

I used to read through all the seafoam arguments and I remember someone bringing that up. Another guy replied (supposedly a mechanic) and pointed out the obvious. Your rings cannot be sealed by gunk unless your pistons decide they don't want to be forced against the cylinder walls at all during their stroke.

That one. Makes sense since it's the only tube leading to the engine...took me a while to figure it out. Be sure to cut off part of the tube that you stick in the seafoam because that part could crack due to expantion and what not.

^you don't need to cut off the tube. I've seafoamed my car almost ten times and I've had no problem with the tube, no cracking no nothing.

What's the highest miles anyone has foamed for the first time?

Foaming a car for the first time with 300k on it would be scary. I'm a little reluctant to do it on mine with 123k. If it doesn't unplug any grim plugged leaks you'll probably shit your pants with how much better it runs.

I'll probably do this once I get my exhaust system fixed and hope for the best.

?

What benefit do you get from sucking some through the vacuum hose? What exactly gets decarbed?
