Just did seafoam...here's a little how-to just in case
Hey Guys,
I just finished doing seafoam on my 3.0 with a friend and thought that I would share a couple of pics of what went down. Basically, we did 1/3 in the PCV valve, 1/3 in the oil, and 1/3 in the gas, then went straight for an oil change afterwards. Anyways, here are a few pics of it all: https://webspace.utexas.edu/sa63/Cl%...pg?uniq=saoxct The bottle itself. I picked mine up at O'Reilly for about 6 bucks. https://webspace.utexas.edu/sa63/Cl%...pg?uniq=saoxco This is the tube we used to suck it in. You can see the little 'T' connector we took it off of. https://webspace.utexas.edu/sa63/Cl%...pg?uniq=saoxcy A closeup of the actual 'T' connector. Now some videos: Vid One: us sucking it into the car. Always important to do it a bit at a time. Click Here Vid Two: smoke shooting out. Lots of fun here. Click Here All in all, it was a lot easier than I thought it would be. Within 30 minutes, we had done everything, including an oil change. Hope this has helped all. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll try to answer them the best I can. |
that's awesome...
i wanna do that too but they don't sell seafoam in canada... damn |
So you put 1/3 in the oil and 1/3 in the gas. Was this vacume hose to the EGR, and when you say you put it in the oil and gas, you just poored it in the oil fill and into the gas tank? cool, I will have to try that. Correct me if I miss understood you. By the way, how long did you let it run in your oil before you changed it?
|
It looked like your car was taking hits or something hahaha. The movie was cool too.
|
damn..... bandwith exceeded

I did that too and there was sooooo much smoke. It was really cool! I wanted to smoke other cars, but it ran out before I got to a main road.
I had some pinging though...is that normal? I took it easy till the pinging stopped, then I drove it hard. |

like the other guy said wha exactly does this do for your car?
|
It is a decarbonate.
|
oh ok. so it cleans out your exhaust of carbon deposits. id assume this would help preserve the cat(s) and resonator(s)
|
It cleans the inside of the engine. All the carbon deposits on the pistons and cylider walls.
|
SEAFOAM is the shiznit...did it over the weekend....about 14 ounces sucked right down through PCV...left it sit 3 1/2 hours...smoked like a bad boy...took it for a ride up the highway...lots of white smoke for about seven miles...also lots of concerned looks from other drivers...then changed oil..car runs lot smoother now...jumps on command...
all in all, a good product. |

naw man u leave it off...
you can also put it in your oil, start the car run for 2 min shut down and drain. gets all the old oil out of the crevist. u can put it in the tranny, and gas tank too. i love that shit... some times it makes the cel come on, but it can be reset and never come back. |
Put it in the tranny?! I'd be too scared to do that. :nervous:
|
i havent done it... i was just sayin you could do it. i dont think i would ever do it.
|
will it clean out your injectors and shit if you put it in your gas?

thats wasup... |
Alright, so I just searched 5 different seafoam threads for the 3.0 and they all say the same thing about the 'T' connector thing but the pics are always down. wtf is that? Can someone post a pic of the tube of the T conector? I really want to do this before my dad gets home in 3 hours...
|
Also, would it be alright to drive about 50 more miles till next oil change? (couple of days)
And I have a little less than a quarter tank of gas, should I fill it up just a little bit more before I pour in the seafoam? |
The T-Connector is the vacuum lines on the back part of the engine
