Hub puller?
Hub puller?
Ok, I have been looking through old posts here and on honda tech for like 2 hours now. Do you need anything else besides a hub puller to do the front brakes, or is there some kind of machine that actually presses these things on? I saw a good DIY on there that looked like all you needed was a 30$ tool to pull the hub off the rotor. Thanks. Heres the link http://www.honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1281812
I think I will just plan on having a pair of new wheel bearings, rotors, pads, and just hope for the best. If something goes wrong I have time, and I only seem to learn from the unexpected problems.
I am way beyond the noob guide on this one... I am asking if it would be possible for me to do it with just a hub puller like the one in the DIY. Yes its a 97, but the DIY looked pretty easy, but then everyone acts like its impossible and go dish out 400$... It looked like in the DIY the guy just used the puller to press them off, and then just pressed them back with a 2x4 and a mallet.
The only big issue it sounds like is when the hub is rusted to the bearing and you have to dig it all out.

I'm sure it's possible, at least on "paper". But do you really want to be banging away with a 2x4 and a mallet on your brakes?

It seems like a long, tedious process on that job, totally not worth the time or effort, plus, how do you know they're on there correctly? Sorry, personally, it saves a good chunk of change, but is totally not worth it.
If the hub is rusted, yeah, good luck on that one, you'll have to chisel them out.

yeah, I read it. I mean, hell, i'm not knocking it, just seems a little risky if you don't have any clue what you're doing. If you have the tools and the time, shit, go for it man. If it works, post back. Maybe you'll save some cash.
What does it cost to get the rotors/pads/wheel bearings installed? Depends on how much money it is. I know I could do it, but there would probably be some big issue I would have to deal with.

Just for labor to do pads and rotors, which I provided, this is at 2 different shops

You should be fine doing it yourself I have a 97 2.2cl and replaced the rotors with my dads help in an afternoon. we had a different kind of hub puller but the one mentioned in the DIY looks like it would be easier to use. and to press the hub back in we just tighten the lug nuts evenly and it worked fine.
rotor over hub conversion FTW! Ive been wanting to replace my rotors/pads lately, but i also want to do the hub conversion.
Does anyone know where I can get 98 hubs and some wheel bearings for cheap?
sorry for the
by the way, thanks for bringing up that hub puller/diy frog. I might go this route if the hub conversion doesnt work out.

is the 98 conversion considered easier or harder?
