Hi, long time reader, first time poster I just joined

I'm attempting some weight reductions on my 1998 CL 3.0 and I was just wondering which heat shields along the bottom of the car are ok to remove?

Are there any ill effects of removing any of them?


I searched the forums and was unable to find an answer to this; can anyone help?

 

Biggest issue is the heat from the cat can cause fires if something flammable touches it (i.e. piece of newspaper, plastic bag,...). The heat shields don't weight much so I'd leave it in place.

Each heat shield can't weigh more than a pound or two. You'd be better off taking the user manual out of the glovebox.

I know how you can trim some weight from the car. First I gotta ask, how much do you weigh?

 

um yeah, I wouldn't remove them for weight reduction that's just pointless

 

^ lol. youll save more weight by pulling the noise dampener off the underside of the hood.

 

if this is for racing, get another car, or be prepared to spend big bucks
