Header sounds like $#!+

well i finally got the megan racing headers on today, after breaking not one, but TWO of my friends socket wrenches getting those bolts off , lower the car down, start it up...

WTF.

sounds like a civic with an exhaust leak. throw it back up on the stands, retighten everything, the o2 sensor is snug in there, all the gasktets are one, EVERYthing is real tight, once again, sounds like its leaking. i dont get it. it sounds horrible, like an old school VW bug. i bought the header used but the guy said it was only on his for like a couple weeks, so could something be wrong with the header?

blahhh.

i know.. i just FUCKING read something that the guy that sold it to me posted in the thread klepto made about his megan header pwning him

What I do not like is the Raspy Cricket type sound that comes under acceleration that is driving me nuts. I've taken them off twice now replacing the gaskets both times and there are NO exhaust leaks at all. The only thing I can see that would cause this is the excess weld metal on the collector inside the header and the bad flowwhere the tubes and flanges meet. Im going back to stock.
one month later he sold it to me.

but im not complaining. what would you expect for $80 for a used header and intake. the intake sounds mean as hell, so i guess it was worth it. that megan shit is coming off ASAP tho.

Ever wonder why the header was only on his car for a couple weeks? I bet cuz his car was doing the same thing. If you check out klepto's thread, he has a pic where the gaskets weren't sealing if I recall and there was a gap. I'd check for that, maybe have an exhaust shop look at it, it may need bent down.

EDIT: Just saw you posted his comment above, so I guess you know. Sucks dude, but at least like you said, you got an intake out of it

I have obx, the ceramic is good, but expect the paint to chip off after you take it out for the first time, they do the trick though, had them for about a month and sounds pretty good to me and you feel a little power gain, not a ton but what do you expect..

naw, i said in my thread that they didnt even fit right, and that i had to get them cut and rewelded in order to fit into the cat straight.

quick, sell them or something!

so the problem is with the header? cuz i have the same headers and mine made the exact same noise cuz the very end of the headers touched this long metal thing and vibrated..ill post a pic if i get a chance, they bent that metal piece till it fell off and now im fine

Since you didnt even know how to get the header off I going to assume you have an exhaust leak from the USED gaskets I threw in. I told you to replace the gaskets with OEM ones because those crappy paper thin Megan ones they kept sending me all leaked. $80 for intake and header was very cheap so dont complain.

haha, never buy used shit. I just installed a used ACT xlite fly and clutch combo ...got the fly resurfaced and it grabs like a mother fucker. The 1st gear clutch pedal feel is so tight and low but it grabs. Anyways.....just checked the tags on my header and therers a plate with "obx" stamped on it. Im guessing its not a megan which is why its nice and tight sounding...no leaks...no nothing. lucky me.

I had the same problem with the headers on my integra.... The pieces dont line up right causing the gaskets to shift and then eventually leak!!!

MEGAN RACING SUCKS FAT COCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

someone should send these threads to the president of Megan racing so they can see what customers think of their products.
