Head Unit Question

Does the factory head unit in a 98 2.3 CL have enough power to run aftermarket 6x9's 4-ways in the back and 3-way 6.5 inch in the front without an amp? and if not is it possible to put an amp on the factory headunit?

Thanks!

i wouldnt recommend doing that. You're definatly gonna need an amp to power those speakers. I think you can use an aftermarket amp with the stock headunit

I actually have no idea how to go about that, as I got HU first before anything. I know that the stock HU doesnt have pre-amp outs though.

I would buy a head unit before you change the speakers. if you want to buy one i have a very nice one that i will sell, plenty of power and all preouts and top of the line.

well you can put an amp on the stock radio by going to walmart or any place that sells audio equipement and buy a speaker line converter -- it converts your speaker wires to a rca plug in. then just hok up your amp the regular way. but the bad thing about that is the stock radio only goes so loue and you would not be to happy with it. the smartes thing to do is buy an aftermarket cd player that already has a small amp in it. some push 4x40 all the way up to 4x75. and that is plenty enough to push the,. I have pioneer 6x9's and 6 1/2's and 6 tweeters all being pushed by my pioneer cd player and sounds dam good so my advice....... NEW CD PLAYER!!!

the pioneer DEH 850 comes with the steering wheel remote... buy a headunit with a remote or steering wheel controls.
