Getting something else

I've been doing alot of research for the past few weeks, and i've decided to get an evo 8. what are your opinions about the car? it seems to serve my purpose being fast, 4 door, and easy to mod both performance-wise and cosmetically. i want to get one slightly used maybe around the summer time when the 2005's come out hopefully.

What's the price bracket?

I just can't get over the looks of it or the STi. Nice car all around tho.

I already asked.

Jamolie, I dunno what I'd get for under 25K right now. I'd prob look 350Z and S2000. I def want RWD+ from now on.

what about an '02 is300 5speed, then save up money for a little while before dropping a turbo? The Evo8 is definitely a good handler and a great car, but if you don't have a daily driver, do you think you'd feel weird driving it into work as you get older?

me too RWD is the way to go.....especially coming from a FWD V6 AUTO owner....(bahhhh)......please save yourself the hassle and dont get the EVO.....remember mitsu=trouble

25 or under? even used? man, the possibilities are endless! How about an early production Infiniti G35?? those shold go for waaaay under 25K, closer to 20

Or maybe a little less luxury more sporty? A demo 2004 nissan maxima SE? and by demo I mean a new, untitled max. with 3-6 thousand miles...

Why not a GS400? They're fast, luxurious, and they look good.
1/4 stock runs a 14.5 and they're easy to mod.
It's also -/+ 3600 lbs

My friend with and EVO can barely run that. The lowest I've seen him run is 14.3. I don't care for the looks of it either. I'd rather have an STi.

i just talked to this guy tonight. he is offering his evo for 20k with a little over 20k miles on it. the only thing is that it is red... probably my last choice of colors. he also said that the paint isnt all that great either. what do you think other than the miles being rather high? all that's done to it is clutch and flywheel.

I'd pass on the CL-S. I was trying to talk myself into a CLS-6, but I can't. Too many better options, esp considering it's FWD.

I'd rather go S2K with a bl0wer hehe.

LOL! Mitsu's ain't that bad as long as you take care of them! Mine's got 127K miles and still kickin' hard with NO problems(knock on wood) in the 5yrs I've had it!

Anyway, Evo's are cool if you can get a decent price. You ain't goin' to find an Sti for the price range you're lookin' for! If you want 4dr, fast, and low budget, why not an SRT-4? Now don't tell me "Oh, it's a Neon"! Those cars are bad for the price, I'm sorry! Just my

hmm... neons are just not my cup of tea. G35 coupes i love, but the price is pretty up there. S2Ks are not practical and my girl has a CL type S, so i wouldnt want another one. GS400s just arent my style either. they look too posh and huge. any other suggestions for cars under 25k?

I would personally get a 350Z :P

I've thought about that being my next car...not the z, a used 540i 6spd in a few years, maybe throw some dinan parts on it, and a staggered set of HRE's. Thats what I'd like to be my family car when I'm 30, and use the CL as the daily driver.

Its still a neon. im not sure how many people have actually sat in one of these things, but i can tell you its not fun at all. Yeah its a fast car, but i like some style too. that car it dripping with extraneous crap that dodge thought would be a plus...haha

btw my dad owns a 99 3000gt, its slow but it works when your going downtown to get some ass.

True!

But about the Neon, there's just so much potential w/them cars, and new things just keep coming out for them for looks and more speed! Regardless, it's not jamolie's "cup of tea" so, it don't matter!

jamolie...my friends dad just got an evo (in yellow) and he drove it here from florida to come pick his son up from school. I snapped a few pics of it as I was just completely taken with the car. Something about it just makes me drool, I'm not really sure what it is either. Oh yeah, maybe the front mount

This guys dad previously owned a 95 Supra, and mid 90's 911 Porsche so I think he'd have to be pretty impressed by its potential and looks as well as stock power if he would be willing to part with these other two cars to get it.

Personally, if I had the money i'd get the evo, a turbo back exhaust, boost controller and a body kit and wreck people and look good doin it

Oh yeah, his son who pushed him to get it is the proud owner of a 93 Mazda RX7 with single turbo pushing well over 400 hp to the wheels. I must say his car is one of the sexiest I've ever laid eyes on and the meanest sounding!

sorry for the long post but...i say go for it!

If i ever saw an evo, or any car of its calibur with a "maximize your options" slapped on the back i'd piss on the hood and shit on the windshield. I hate randomly placed decals, especially writing that is retarded.

Jamolie,

I've researched for about 3 months on just about every sport-luxury car out there. I found that Lexus is the best as far as comfortablity, perforamance and styling. The styling is just my personal opinion.

BMW 330Ci- Really strong engine for just 225 HP. Lots of luxury and one of the best looking luxury coupe out there. The only year that is "safe" is 2002+. Those still run low 30's. I found that BMW has terrible customer service and little things like window regulators (go figure) and electronics fail quite frequently. The tranmission is good but not great. If you get a bimmer is the sport package, it doesn't ride like a luxo coupe. It's stiff and that was something that I didn't want.

Audi- Great performance, looks and interior but there's something about driving one wasn't my cup of tea. 2002 offer free main't for the life of the warranty. The older models 2000- 2001 are high main't and like the bimmers, little things tend not to work after while. The suspension on the S4 is pretty good but the A4 doesn't feel like "home". Something is just missing.

G35- Great car, great looks and great perforamnce but not worth 32K+. The interior is cheap compared to other cars in that price range. The breaks suck, very touchy and they squeal, eventhough they are Brembos.

GS400- very luxurious inside and out. Very fast for a big luxury car. 1999+ are the best years. They are fairly prices and they are the best "bang for the buck". Although the car feels "floaty", there's plenty of things you can do to offset that feeling. They are low very low main't. Most people have problems with low idleing which Lexus has no clue what causes it, and faulty AC compressor. Most people don't have problems with the AC compressor but after it's replaced, people never had a problem with it since.

As far as the EVO, it's a great car. I think the STi is way better though. Similarly priced but I think the STi will hold is value better than the EVO. It seems that the STi outshines the EVO in every way.

Are you kidding??? Minimal mods...

Upgraded turbo, exaust, custom manifold, downpipe, 75 shot NX nitrous, drag radials, aftermarket front mount intercooler...not to mention the other performance electronics.

That's easily 8 G's with installation.

Damn thing should run 12's.

according to him, he ran that without the upgraded turbo and nitrous. just the bolt ons. thanks for the input dennis. my friend just bought a g35 coupe, and i am pretty impressed with it. but yea, its a little too pricey for me. i've never considered a gs400. it seems way to big for me right now. maybe the is300.

Thats the F-ing truth, mitsu's are trouble waiting to happen. Also those 4-doors just bug me, it makes the car way look big. Oh btw my boy works at a lexus dealership and if you really want to waste your money buy the IS300...for $30Gs you get plastic AC knobs and a tranny that wont last longer than a automatic CL tranny. In my opinion the IS is the biggest waste of money. You should get the STi...those are just plain sick. Just dont rally in it to much and you shouldnt have to many problems.
