f22 motor and eclipse turbo setup..

has anyone ever heard of this being a reliable way to go for performance??

i would rather build up either my current motor or another f22 and use an eclipse turbo setup (piping and all) in order to boost it.. I was just wondering if it's a simple job or would be a pain in the a$$ compared to a honda accord setup..

I know the manifold doesn't bolt directly, but there are ways around that including using an accord manifold or just redrilling holes and welding up existing ones on the mitsubishi..

I don't know if this is the best way to go, but for the price (assuming everything is new), you can't beat it..

The f22 youre referring to is the F22A. Ours are the F22b1.

Totally different exhaust manifold bolt patterns.

thanks for clearing that up, but i'm guessing that a f22a would bolt right into our cars??

would you recommend going for a built f22a with mistu kit or the setup you have..

i'm talking about performance vs. $$

i'll take all the advice you have or if youd rather just refer me to somethin i can research??

thanks..

it doesnt make sense to go down to a non-vtec head from one that is capable. you're better off just getting a kit and not second-guessing the flow.

i tried the 4g63 manifold, but cylinders 2 and 3 are close together on our heads as opposed to the f22a series where the ports are equadistant (sp?)

try putting 1 bar + on the f22/23 block and see what it does.

true.. aight you know what.. im gonna work out my suspension instead of my engine right now..

i got 115k on my car and it needs a little freshenin up if ya know what i mean..

i think it sucks that even if i put a h22a in my car it would only run high 14's low 15's.. that just pisses me off

but oh well.. if i boosted that h22a id prolly be runnin 13's/14's

honda should of put a h22a in the beginning.. i mean id rather have a h22a/5spd then a 3.0/auto.. and i was talkin eclipse 1g/2g parts man.. the 2g engines may blow, but not until you over boost them.. and for christ sakes its a manifold,turbo,piping.. its not like im putting a mitsu engine in here.. im done with this..

the f22 that works is the DOHC one. Ours is SOHC.

i <3 f22a's. plus the exhaust mani is the same as the dsm's more or less. imho you don't need vtec for boost. the point of the turbo is to push as much air through the motor as possible. so why have the intake valves less than full open at any point in the gear range? seems kinda simple to me, the less complicated the system the easier it is to run and you'd have less potential problems. i mean the whole point of vtec is fuel economy, but if you're taking an N/A motor that runs 87 octane and forcing twice as much air and 91+ octane, fuel economy is kinda out the window already.

my $0.0179581 - canadian funds, lol.
