Debadging left stain!!!

Hey all,

I just debadged my trunk yesterday. I got all of the adhesive residue removed but I still have outlined stains (it seems like stains but may just be more residue) of ACURA and 3.0CL. Do I need to take some rubbing compund to it or what? I don't know how to remove it without damaging the paint.

Please Help!!! I appreciate the responses.

Try waxing it before you use rubbing compound (although that should work).

I had the same problem but than i had my trunk repainted. I dont think you will be able to get it all off but some rubbing alcohol should get some of it off

Just cover it up with a bumper sticker.

Thanks for all the input, I really appreciate it.

I'll try waxing first, if nothing happens then the rubbing compund, if its still there, then the diluted rubbing alcohol.

If its still there, I've got some nice "Get Off My Ass" and "Choke on This" bumber stickers to cover it up.

I used goo gone, a sticker adhesive remover. then cleaned it real good with soapy water and used a polish-wax. It got rid of it real good.

i just worked on it with my fingernails and some WD-40 to loosen up the compound. It came off after about 30 minutes of digging at it. after it is almost all off, then wax it to get the remaining little bits off.

Man, I was waxing my car and the towel I was using, pulled the "ACURA" sticker off a little. I ended up taking it completely off and had that shadow effect, along with some glue. I tried everything and couldn't get anything to work It actually looks like some of the paint/clearcoat came off as well. (Maybe because of the black color and 4 years of hot Fla sun. I need to have my trunk repainted anyway (parked to close to a palm on a windy day and lighty scratched the trunk). Wow, what a sob story I have. I'm done for now.

I had the same problem. I used bug and tar remover and it took everything right off without really dulling the finish or anything. Just my 2 cents for any future debadgers.
